Saturday June 3rd.  I started removing the rear end components.  Since I have to remove the carrier assembly to fix a leaky gasket I decided to overhaul this 57 year old rear axel.  In order to remove the differential and carrier assembly the drive axels need to be removed.  Since this needs to be done, the inner and outer bearings and seals will be replaced for both axel shafts and the drive pinion inner and outer bearings and seal will be replaced along with a new gasket.   I removed what I could but was not able to pull the axel shafts because I didn't have an axel puller available.

I was able to spend some time this weekend cleaning up the rear drums and housings along with the leaf spring hangers.  I will be replacing the leaf springs along with shocks and new brake cylinders.  Next week I will be able to pull the axel and complete the mechanical repairs and clean up of this last piece of the drive train.
