The trunk lid was in very sorry shape. The bottom and
corners were rusted away. My parts car trunk lid was in
worse shape so I decided to fix the one I have.
I cut out the completely rusted out sections
leaving behind some areas that could help support the body
filler.
I then sand blasted what was left and
sprayed the inner surfaces with rust inhibiting automotive
primer.
I tack welded in new sheet metal.
Ground down the welds, cleaned with
acetone, and filled with good quality body putty.
Approximately 8 hours latter and the above is
the result.
This is the last major piece of body repair.
The remaining work is spot fill and minor cosmetic repairs.
