I have a 1920s vintage Klaxon my dad got as a kid that I am refurbishing for my Plymouth (I dont like the single note "beep" horn that came with the car). I am just wondering what make and model this horn is. If anyone knows about these, I will post some pics. Its a big thing measuring about thirteen inches long.

yep, thats the order both of mine have.

I havent got to mine yet, thanks Rich. Funny you guys dont have numbers stamped; I have two, different venders, and both are stamped 1-6 and not in order.

I will do that, thanks guys. For the time being, I just put the original back on. And believe me, it looks like its original! Actually, aftermarket circa 1940s.

Figured out. The new belt is 5/8" thick, old belt 3/4". The new belt goes deeper into the pulley grooves making it too loose! Otherwise the size is correct.

But mine is a 29U. Are the mount bracket/bolts the only means of tightening? I guess I need to take the new belt back out and compare it to the old-- which I should have done in the first place.

Thanks Chet, I'll give it another shot in a few days.

I bought a fan belt from Pro Antique Auto. I cant get some of the slack out of the belt, is there an adjustment for the generator outside of the two bolts on the mount bracket? I seem to have it extended as high up as possible and there is still an inch of play on both sides of the belt. Did I get screwed with the wrong belt?  >:(

Okay, my wiring is mildly screwed up. I need to know if this wiring description using "1-6" is using the same numbers stamped on the switch housing. If it is, it aint working for me.

Secondly- I have no second horn wire. My horn wire coming from the column plugs into one of the wires leading to the horn.

Any thoughts?

Anyone know where I can pick up a couple extra oil plugs for my '29?

Sorry, since the thread didnt specify "early production", I was just listing the differences that I knew of for all of the 1930 calender year.

The nameplate on the radiator shell is different, the engine now has a water pump and an oil pump. Late models had the oval backlight and a center-moutned chrome horn on the tie bar. (The theory behind the ribbon radiator was to give the illusion of a longer hood.)

Wow, those seem to be some ridiculously high pressures. I'll stick with Chrysler's recommended psi of 40 in the front and 35 in the back! Or was it the other way around? My manual is in the garage and it's 25 below right now, I don't need to know for sure right now, LOL!

I have, what appear to be, orginal Goodyear Marathons on my U and there is a fair amount checking in the sidewalls; even 40 psi makes me a little nervous.

I know a couple guys that powder coat everything and I just don't get it. To me, it's a waste of time and resources and it seems to cause more problems than it solves!

Interesting info, thanks for the post.
