General Discussion / Stromberg Carb
October 05, 2013, 12:52:51 PM
The original carb on my '28 was replaced with a Stromberg VRO- 1. I would like to replace it with the stock unit, but the price for a rebuilt unit is way above my budjet.

I rebuilt it and it runs good., but I would like to know how to adjust it. I problably should leave it be, but that's no fun.

Is anyone running this carb or have any knowledge of it?

General Discussion / Kingston Vacuum Fuel Canister
September 26, 2013, 07:47:06 PM
I am attempting to rebuild the fuel canister on my '28.

It seems to be in pretty good shape except for the cork float, that is fuel saturated.
I think the original float was brass or steel.

Can anyone tell me where I can source a replacement float. A metal float would would be best, but may be hard to find.

I can't find a piece of cork big enough.

Do you guys have any advice or ideas?

General Discussion / OIL
September 02, 2013, 10:40:23 PM
When I got my '28 Q six months ago I drained the oil and dropped the pan.

I cleaned about 1/2" of sludge form the bottom of the pan and put 4 quarts of Delo in and drove about 30 miles.

The oil was black so I dumped it and ran the Delo again. After about 30 miles the oil was black again. No clean up at all.

What do you folks recommend? Do you suggest I run non-detergent oil?

All and any input will be appreciated.

I'm cleaning up the engine and bay on my '28.

Can any tell me the colors of the heads, block, components, firewall, ect.?

A pic would be very helpful but a description would be much appreciated as well.

Thank You

General Discussion / New Guy

Greetings,

What a fantastic Site!

I love cars, but I have been into '50's and '60's Mopars. That is since I met Amelia. She's a '28 Business coupe that needs a home and a lot of TLC.

I traded a '80 Hadley Jiggleson FLHC for her about 2 months ago and am fixing her up.

The pic was when I picked her up on my birthday in May

So far I've rebuilt the carb, changed all fluids. The throwout bearing was worn out and will replace the tranny with the new bearing installed tomorrow.. I will install the drive shaft as soon as I find the washers that go between the discs.

What a great car and I look forward to becoming a useful member of this site.

I'll post more pics as soon as I get her out of the garage and back on the road.
