Special thanks to forum member Articifer Tom who linked me to a 29 Chrysler owner who had a pressure plate for the 29 Plymouth in excellent shape. Should be in the mail soon. :)
But with this being said, at some point these items will dry up. I have found out much about these pressure plates and many of the venders that supply the rebuilds. Unfortunately you can't keep resurfacing them forever. The 4 cylinder Plymouth flywheel is flat so finding a modern equivalent doesn't seem that hard. You would think that this problem might have had a solution at this point but maybe the demand is to small to make the effort worthwhile. Might be an opportunity for some reverse engineering.
For those of us like Frank who love to drive their cars this pressure plate issue will come up again. I was told that the newer style pressure plate can be used in cars from 1928 to 1932. I think that's a lot of cars still on the road.

What about throw out bearings? They were in short supply 40 years ago. Is there a modern eqivalent available?

Take number off bearing and cross on SKF site . Nice 1136 was mine . Ebayed about 34 dollars
Could also try these guys. If it exists they can find it. I used them to get replacement axle bearings and a replacement for the front hub. they also have replacement seals of all kinds.

I think you replaced the throw-out bearing on your car. See picture below is the bearing pressed on the plate with the transmission locating post or did you find a similar bearing ?

The pictures were very informative. I removed the bearing but had to use a bearing puller for the first 1/2 inch.
Did you ever source the bearing ? I need to replace mine I don't want to take any chances with that section coming apart. The destruction of the first pressure plate was enough for me. Hooked up to the transmission under power and doing 35mph could have been a very destructive event.
I found a source but a little pricey.

I never did price it. I forgot all about at the time, my focus was getting the axle bearings replaced and dealing with the busted pinion gear retainer.
Whats pricey? I guess I have no idea how to assign a cost to an odd ball bearing. I don't remember what the axle bearing setups cost.
If you have the serial number handy call cuttersales and see what they say.
