Dave's cap is correct, the one on Ebay is not for a Plymouth. Mine also has the wings broke off.

General Discussion / 1930 U question
July 19, 2014, 09:32:31 AM
Gentlemen,
Recently I have seen two different cars at shows both claiming to be 1930U's. Both cars had cowl 2 vents located at the top of the cowl. Tomorrow I am going to look at what a gentleman is claiming to be a 1930U, however it does not have the vents in the cowl. The question I'm posing is: what year had these vents? Also, is it possible the vents were an option, and perhaps that's why some cars would not have these?
Any info would be appreciated as I am not that familiar with the 1930U, I have a 29U which seems to be very different than the 30U.
Thanks,
Dan

General Discussion / Radiator cap question
May 09, 2012, 01:16:24 PM
Gentlemen,
Recently I found a far less than perfect example of a winged radiator cap on ebay. Luckily for me the seller did not even know what it fit on. However I did know what it belonged on, only after hours of looking at a perfect example that I took photos of at the Walter P. Chrysler museum! I realise what I purchased could probibly only be used as a casting but I still feel fortunate to have it. It really shows the rareity of our cars and the even scarcer parts!
Now for my question: Did the winged cap only come on the De Luxe Coupe Model or was this an option on any Plymouth? Could someone educate me on this topic?

Hello all!
I guess I am one of the newest members of the group. I have owned vintage cars before but never a vintage Plymouth, and look forward to gaining some information from you folks. I have always liked the look of the Plymouths and the fact they are so rare, you never see them.
I recently purchased what I believe is a 1929 "U" Business Coupe.  Unfortunatly I got it w/out a title, however I couldn't resist buying it even w/ the title problem as it is a complete car minus the engine/trans. and is in very good shape, and I even got a few spare parts w/ it but unfornuatly nothing for the missing motor/trans.
I've scoured previous posts to try and answer some of my questions but if I ask something thats already been covered I apologize in advance.
I looked up the "Fedco" number which says it was built in 29, but I also received a body tag w/ the vehicle that states: BRIGGS MFG. CO. Detroit Mich. #322-20773.
My first question did Briggs make the bodies for Plymouth? Or could this tag be totally unrelated?
Also, is there any significant way to differentiate between a model "U" and a "30U"?
Any, info would be appreciated, and thanks.
