Well we are hunkered down for the evening.  This is a major event for our area.  Snow is starting to intensify.  Tomorrow I will post some pictures.

The Lab is running around the back yard making dog snow angels.  We are well prepared for this storm with snow blower and 5 KW generator.  We will see what the morning brings.  For you guys in the mid-west and Canada this isn't a big deal but here in the DC area 12 inches cripples the infrastructure.    Forecasts are in the 20 to 25 range all over with the possibility of 30 to 35".  Probably TV hype.

Best Regards,  Chet...

7:30 this morning view from my front window.  12 more hours of snow to go.

The first picture:

I did a first cut on the driveway at around 9:00 this morning.  My snow blower does a 24" cut and the snow was right to the top.

The second picture was at around 3:00 PM.  Roughly 30" on the ground with another 6 to 8 hours of snow coming, although we are currently getting light snow now.  Hopefully the end is near.

Best regards,  Chet...

Are you in the region to get another blast of winter in the next day or so?

Rusty,

We are stuck in the house today with blizzard conditions.  30 mph winds with gusts to 50/60 reported.  The northern Virginia and DC area is at a stand still.  Even the plow trucks are on hold until conditions get better.  We will definitely surpass the DC snowfall record for a single season with over 50" and counting.  I haven't seen snow like this in the northeast for 30 years.  Certainly not in the Washington DC area.  When today's storm is finished we might expect another 12 to 15" on top of the 30" we got over the weekend.

Good luck with your engine.

Chet...  Thinking about moving to Vancouver.  Less snow there.
