Title: Paint do-over three years later: OT
Post by: chetbrz on November 02, 2013, 06:47:40 PM
My car was painted in October of 2010.  The paint came out great but as time went on I had problems with the primer pushing up dimples in the finish coat.  The painter really stood behind the job he did and I just received back the car today after 3 weeks in the shop.  The painter sanded the car back down to the metal, new primer, and multiple coats of finish paint.  We used a black primer to darken the paint color.  The car came out pretty close to perfect.

Painter did all this at NO CHARGE to me.  Only in rural America. !!!

Frank,

After the first ding it's all Good as long as you don't get stuck behind the gravel or paving truck.  :o

Chet,

Good grief!  That first chip is a heart breaker, as you and many know.  May you not have one for many years and miles!
(I'm still trying to understand small paint dings in my rear fender below the tail light??)

Thanks Tony,

I hope to finish all the remaining details in the spring.  Lots of moldings to install with some fine tweaking.  That car pretty much sums up my last 10 years of weekends not counting some honey & daughter do's.

hopefully next spring I can start on my 29.  This one should go faster since I plan to retire from my day job.  Car meets spring and fall, boating & fishing in the hot summer months, and in the winter selling stuff on eBay for next years gas money.

Cheers, Chet...

I am a firm believer in the old expression "If you watch the pennies the dollars will take care of themselves".

Seriously, Yes we have been blessed and yes eBay & Craig's list are great sources for tax free income.  I always liked the mail order business model.  Very low overhead.   :)

Cheers, Chet...
