Things you are looking for. / Rear view mirror
Last post by Touring29 - July 03, 2022, 03:53:05 PM
I need the mirror for our 29 Touring. I have the bracket and ball but nothing to clamp to it. We have mirrors on the spare tires but the ball looks kinda lonely just hanging there in the middle of the windshield.

Wow John, I haven't seen ethanol free gas in quite some time.  Glad you got some quality time with both your girls.  90's here today rain coming soon as cold front passes through.   :)

My daughter and I took the 29 sedan to our local Texaco for a fill-up with Ethanol free gas today, then drove to the Tennessee River.  ( My daughter was anxious for us the get moving again to get the "air conditioning " working again!)

Discs ordered from Rapid CNC. I went with 5 5/16 like the factory setup. I hope these are better than the last ones from the only other vendor I have found.

General Discussion / Everyone Loves a Parade
Last post by Touring29 - June 25, 2022, 03:32:10 PM
Ok it was a little parade in a little town but its ours and we love it. Everything went well. Here is the 29 with the Grand Marshal. She loved it! It was getting pretty warm outside by the time it was over but no cars overheated or did anything else embarrassing. It was a good day!

When the parade was over we ate at a local restaurant and probably spent a hour there then drove home which is a mile or so. When she was pulling into the garage it died but restarted easily. She got it in the garage and I opened the hood nearly burning my hand on the handle. I though wow this thing is HOT. I shot it with my infrared thermometer and the head and water neck read 106 degrees F which wasn't far from the outside temp. The exhaust manifold read over 300 so I know the gun was working. I don't know why it died but at its age as far as I am concerned its allowed to be a little cranky.

For what it's worth I use 5 5/16 discs on my car and they fit perfectly.  Two in front and three in the back.

I talked to the vendor who I linked to above and he has both 3/8" and 5/16" I am pretty sure our cars used 5 5/16" discs and I may go that route even though I would have to buy one more disc. He claims his are made out of fabric like the originals and hold up well. I'll probably order them Monday unless something happens to change my mind.

The parade is tomorrow morning and I have been working on getting three cars ready that will be in it. The 29 Plymouth a 56 T-bird and a 60 TR-3. All 3 will be driven by women Its predicted to be over 100 degrees so I am a little nervous as I want them all to have fun and not have any problems.

I don't know if you got lucky or not but you got a beautiful paint job for a great price.
