That link is a good read.  I think I posted that a while back :)

I know some guys like Rotella or Shell diesel oil 15w-40 because of the zinc content.  I was going to try it as well, but decided to stay with my QS 10w-30 I've been using for years after I read that article.  Still, everyone will have their own flavor that they like.

I was thinking of trying QS Defy 10w-30 because of its zinc content and because it's a synthetic blend, but not sure yet.

20w-50 might be a little too heavy, just my opinion.

These are not water based, but just a peel a stick:

I use a Carter 6v pump with an old dial type inline fuel pressure regulator.  The dial is set on #2, but who knows if that's correct or not.  However, it was set down to 1 1/2 at one time and it stumbled occasionally until I moved it to #2.  This set up has been on the car for many years.

Frank, I'll look in the garage later and get the information.  Their site gave me a part number at the time but not much else and I ended up calling and ordering over the phone.  They came in 2-3 days.

Frank, did you check Jim Osborn Reproductions about the brake canister/reservoir decal?  I put one on mine and it looks pretty good.  The price wasn't too bad and ordered a couple extras just to have them.

The pin stripes on the wheel looks nice...did you do this with a steady hand?

As I've heard here from several of you and read online, the vacuum gauge seems to be an overlooked tool that should be used more often!

I was able to time the motor (so I believe) using the gauge to obtain the most vacuum (and backing down slightly approximately 1 Hg from that reading to be safe) and also used with the carb to get the "best" fuel/air mixture I could.  From there, I adjusted the idle speed by ear to a "good" rpm.  Even after replacing the small exhaust gasket that burned through, there is still a slight miss in the motor.  This may probably never go away...

I took the car out yesterday on a 15 mile test run and she ran great.  In fact, the acceleration (especially from a dead stop) seemed to be a lot smoother with no hesitation or the occasional stumble (I think my timing may have been too retarded before).  I'm attributing this better performance (knock on wood!) to the motor operating at the highest/optimum vacuum along with the adjusted carb setting.

Now, on to some other things to play with on the car...thanks all for the help you've given me from previous threads!

I have been using Valvoline 85-140, which after reading a few articles online, that may be too thin, at least for the Model A folks.  Whenever I've felt I needed to top mine off, I've been using Lucas oil stabilizer, which apparently can be used in rear ends and transmissions.

Hi Frank...let's see some photos of everything when done!

I'll have to look into the 600w oil for trans and rear, haven't heard of that before.  Let us know/if it makes any difference.
