Question:

  • Was there weather stripping around the door frames.  If so, anyone have any pictures ?
  • Also interested in how the hinge pillars are weather sealed ?
  • Was there a metal rear window frame, I don't believe I have one.
After the plating snafu I may be asking many more...

Pictures of original interior appreciated.

Chet...

Hi Chet.  I have some pictures attached of my '29 coupe that may help you.  One picture shows the P-side door frame with windlass-type seal along the inside edge of the door opening.  This picture also shows the 4-piece garnish molding around the rear window.  Also note above the upper left corner of the rear window (L in picture) one of the two hangers for the roll-down type rear window shade.  I do not remember that there was any weatherstrip anywhere in the door jambs or door frame but I could be wrong about that.  The pictures don't show any evidence that a rubber seal was ever there however.  If I find a picture that clearly shows the hinge post and open door, I will send it along.  Kim

Chet - there was wooden molding around the rear window in the 28 that I am working on - as far as the interior weatherstrip I used some some cloth stripping I got from england.  This worked very well and I probably can get the address for you.  Photos of this car will be posted once we get the frt fenders back from body shop and installed - will be completed then..

Chet, Dave will probably give pictures of his car.

Based on his, I did the windlace in a flat black vinyl.  Kim's picture shows the vertical and horizontal across the top of the door interior.

My rear window looks to be one piece metal.    frank

I'll try and get a few pictures up for you tonight. My rear window has upholstered trim around the frame in the inside.

Thanks Dave,

Is the rear window moldings fabric covered wood or metal.  It looks like wood to me.

Guessing wood by the way the tacks/nails are holding on the material. But not 100% sure with out peeling it apart.
