General Discussion / That sweet running sound!
July 29, 2012, 02:07:41 PM
A friend and I have been working on the 29 for four months. The fenders are off, stripped, rust sealed and primed. The undercarriage has been mostly prepared as well.  It had not run for twenty years and I needed to manufacture a completely new wiring harness from scratch.  Yesterday we got it started.  Such a great sound.  Initially a lot of smoke for a few minutes, and after that it ran strong!!
Only 62 thousand miles on the car. Boy am i encouraged!

General Discussion / Fan Belts
June 09, 2012, 11:32:36 PM
Where are any of you in the US finding fan belts? I have been to two stores so far, and they can come close, but not a match. Please let me know the store, the brand, the size, etc if possible.

I have been looking for a 6volt fuel pump that delivers about 2psi and (I suppose) a pressure regulator as well. Suggestions?  Model A type?  Mine came with a very worn out old pump that is useless. The vacuum one is gone.

General Discussion / Spark plug wires
June 03, 2012, 03:02:19 PM
I still have the original (?) quite long plug wires; however, they are old, cracked and brittle. I want to replace them and went to a parts shop. They tell me that newer wires are thicker and would send a hotter spark than I require.  What have any of you done regarding replacement wires? I can use what I have as far as starting it, but will need new ones to make it reliable. Advice needed.

I drained the tranny fluid today. I have NEVER seen so thick of blobs of oil. The differential was a little better. What fluids are you using for your cars?

General Discussion / side skirts
May 28, 2012, 01:08:55 AM
I am not sure if this is the correct term, but the metal "skirts" that come from the body down to the running boards on my 29 are rusted away. What have any of you done to recreate these?

General Discussion / original trunk
May 20, 2012, 08:20:26 PM
You may recall that I found a like new original trunk on Craigs list in my home town last month for $250. A much rougher but virtually identical one is presently on Craigs list for SF bay area. It is listed as trunk/automobile 1920/1930  $225

General Discussion / Info on this photo
May 20, 2012, 06:25:01 PM
This photo is of the numerous electrical connections attached at the bottom of the steering column. Does anyone have info to identify and trace these wires?

I am working on the badly neglected, brakes this weekend. I have my replacement parts (via Ebay in Argentina) and am ready to go. What type or grade of brake fluid is compatible?

General Discussion / Great find!
May 03, 2012, 02:00:52 PM
I found a guy near me who did not realize what he had. His grandmother had a 30 Plymouth and it had a trunk on the back. She always thought it would be stolen so she took it off when NEW and placed it in her barn. He inherited her items and is selling me the essentially brand new original trunk. $250 and I am glad to pay it!

What is the procedure from removing the caps and wheels on the 29?  Mine has the round covers on the back and hex shaped covers on the front.  Sounds stupid but I am a novice on cars this old.

General Discussion / Radiator source?
April 12, 2012, 01:41:17 PM
Who are any of you using to repair or replace your radiators that will not cost you and arm and a leg?
