General Discussion / Re: New member 1929U 4dr

welcome Frank!  Now I will not be the newbie on the block, I will have some company!  I got my 29 running about two weeks ago after working on it for nearly five months.  It purred like a kitten ( a smoky kitten) after not having run for 21 years.  I love the information that I have learned from this group. They are an excellent, responsive resource!

contact Chet.  Somewhere in with all of this someone posted a clear but simple drawing of the switch.

General Discussion / That sweet running sound!
July 29, 2012, 02:07:41 PM
A friend and I have been working on the 29 for four months. The fenders are off, stripped, rust sealed and primed. The undercarriage has been mostly prepared as well.  It had not run for twenty years and I needed to manufacture a completely new wiring harness from scratch.  Yesterday we got it started.  Such a great sound.  Initially a lot of smoke for a few minutes, and after that it ran strong!!
Only 62 thousand miles on the car. Boy am i encouraged!

Mine came to me without a vacuum pump. It is missing. A broken down electrical pump was in its place, so I am stuck with getting a low output six volt pump with (I presume) a pressure regulator in line with it.

That makes two of us. I need them also. Mine work, but are 2 inch stubs left over from what they were.

Where are any of you in the US finding fan belts? I have been to two stores so far, and they can come close, but not a match. Please let me know the store, the brand, the size, etc if possible.

To Doug:  It would help if you have the model number or photo. What about adjusting the pressure?  Do you also have a pressure regulator?

Chet, you and the forum guys have been so GOOD to me that I will give you  anything I have left when the project is over.  The info you all share has been invaluable. Also, you all keep me excited about this!!
I LOVE this car!

WOW.  Great tip!  Thank you!  We have a JDeere here in town.

I have been looking for a 6volt fuel pump that delivers about 2psi and (I suppose) a pressure regulator as well. Suggestions?  Model A type?  Mine came with a very worn out old pump that is useless. The vacuum one is gone.

General Discussion / Spark plug wires
June 03, 2012, 03:02:19 PM
I still have the original (?) quite long plug wires; however, they are old, cracked and brittle. I want to replace them and went to a parts shop. They tell me that newer wires are thicker and would send a hotter spark than I require.  What have any of you done regarding replacement wires? I can use what I have as far as starting it, but will need new ones to make it reliable. Advice needed.

Chet: You may want the one of two running boards that I have when I am finished. (Need to keep it for the template) I have the one from the right side in reasonably good shape. The one from the driver side (left) is missing. I intend on making new ones of Ironwood and installing with countersunk brass bolts.

Thank you also, John. The stuff in the tranny came out like very thick pudding. Really looking forward to cleaning it out.
