General Discussion / Thanks to everyone
September 26, 2009, 03:29:15 PM
My U sold yesterday, I have very mixed feelings about it. A very nice fellow with a 40 car collection bought it and I feel it went to the right hands, it is safe.

I want to thank everyone for their help and especially Chet for hosting this site.

I WILL be back to visit.

General Discussion / This is a REAL problem...
September 04, 2009, 11:44:46 AM
I dont care if the guy owns it and can do what he wants, this would just be wrong if it gets rodded. Look at this PA, just beautiful. Surely he can find a run of the mill brand X to chop up. The thought of this is a slap in the face of the collector car community. Maybe someone should "rod" HIM! (This was listed in the latest Plymouth Bulletin.)

Until now, I have never owned a vehicle with kingpins and I am always hearing about owners of antique cars speaking of them. What are the symptons of the need to replace them?

General Discussion / Born on date
May 29, 2009, 12:35:09 AM
Is there any way to precisely determine when these vehicles were built? I highly doubt it. Naturally, Chrysler Heritage only has records going back to 1930. Just as well, with them in bankruptcy, the janitor is probably running that department and I'd never see that money again!

Using the chart Chet posted, I took my Fedco number, date, numeric sequence, etc. and determined my '29 was built on or around 11 June 1929 (80th birthday coming up!). I also found that the 100,000th Plymouth built was manufactured less than a thousand cars before mine; just a few days, which I think is pretty cool. What would be very cool is if it mine actually was THE 100,000th Plymouth.

Anyway, if someone is an automotive archivist that specializes in pre-depression era Chrysler products that has a magical chart, lemme know!

I have a 1920s vintage Klaxon my dad got as a kid that I am refurbishing for my Plymouth (I dont like the single note "beep" horn that came with the car). I am just wondering what make and model this horn is. If anyone knows about these, I will post some pics. Its a big thing measuring about thirteen inches long.

General Discussion / Fan belt replacemant
April 15, 2009, 04:24:32 PM
I bought a fan belt from Pro Antique Auto. I cant get some of the slack out of the belt, is there an adjustment for the generator outside of the two bolts on the mount bracket? I seem to have it extended as high up as possible and there is still an inch of play on both sides of the belt. Did I get screwed with the wrong belt?  >:(

Anyone know where I can pick up a couple extra oil plugs for my '29?

General Discussion / Winged Radiator Cap question...
November 30, 2008, 01:26:32 PM
The winged cap that came on my car has no casting/part number or any other identifying marks underneath. Do any of you guys have an original cap and does it have any markings?

I had an original winged cap (the older threaded style) from a mid-twenties Chrysler that had no markings, so I know that some of the first Chrysler parts had no vender or corporation hallmarks. Just wondering if this was the case on our '28-30 caps.

General Discussion / Crank hole cover

Does anyone have an original cover that they could post a couple pics of? I want to fabricate one or find one that is as close to original as possible. Thanks...

General Discussion / Fedco tag question...
November 06, 2008, 04:23:10 PM
Hey guys--

I bought some misc body tags (Budd, Fisher, Seaman) on ebay and received a Plymouth Fedco with them, it starts with a "Y". I thought they all started with "R"? Any input? Just curious, thanks in advance...
