General Discussion / Door Hinges for 29 Roadster
January 16, 2022, 10:05:29 AM
Hi all,

Had the roadster out for some exercise yesterday and when I got back and was going over the car, I noticed I have a crack in my upper, driver side door hinge. When the door is closed the alignment is fine but you can tell it needs to be fixed.  Don't know if the roadster hinges are the same as others but, does anyone have one available, or has anybody had to repair one on their car? I'll try to post a pic later but wanted to get this out.

General Discussion / Re: Fans Self Destructing

I know this is an old topic, but just wanted to throw it out there again to see if anybody's come up with a replacement fan, preferably two blade, for safety reasons. Or as mentioned previously, is it an issue with our one piece fans?

The motor was rebuilt in the '80s when my Dad had it and I didn't know exactly what they did. Does it look like it has inserts in there as opposed to Babbitt?  I'm just guessing here out of curiosity.

General Discussion / Check this out - thoughts?

Greetings,

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.  When checking my oil a couple weeks ago, my dipstick actually broke and I lost most of it in the pan...crazy.  After draining the oil and removing the pan,  I was able to get the broken pieces out and clean everything up.  I have a 30U block that I took a dipstick from. I don't believe this is correct, but it is working. Please see the pictures of the broken dipstick and the one that I just took out of the other block. On one side of the handle it says 6 quart capacity. Also, see the pictures I took of the crank from underneath.  What do you notice here?

Chet, how bad are the spokes? I had a left rear wheel that was clicking for a while and fixed it a while ago and it's been solid since. Keeping my fingers crossed, but it's been nice and quiet. Are you able to do this yourself?

Hi Chet,

Yes I have the 20" wood wheels...I do apologize, the rim I thought was a 19" is a 20" with an old Allstate tire on it.  Since it is 20", I probably keep it just in case I ever need it (and hopefully I won't).

I'll look at it closer and take some pictures for you. It's one that my Dad had for years and I really don't know what it's for.  If it's something you think you might want after you see it, that's works out good that you'll be down over the holidays.

Chet, I might have one and can look in the garage this weekend. I'll make sure it's 19 in and take pictures of it.  You don't want to keep your 20-in wheels?

Anyone have any luck with parts and vendors?  How about any 28-29 Plymouths in the show?

If it work and I believe it will, I have a 30U block with the crank pulley on it.

I can't think of the name, but it was the place in Minnesota that I believe Frank or someone recommended. I had my wheel cylinders redone with stainless steel sleeves and I had my brake shoes re-bonded.

Thanks!  The springs did come out nice and a quieter ride with everything done.
