General Discussion / Spark Plug Wires
January 15, 2014, 06:09:39 PM
All:

Any recommendations on replacement spark plug wires for our cars, whether a set from a supplier/vendor, or a "kit" to make my own?  I haven't looked around too much lately and just want to know what you've used in the past or recently.  I'd like to find authentic or close to authentic as possible.

Thanks!

Well, my current quote is for agreed value of $25k for my Roadster, maybe high, maybe not, for $174/year through Grundy.  Zero deductibles, etc.   Hagerty is $267/year for $20k agreed value...anything more requires an appraisal.  I called Allstate (my insurance for everything else) and they write it through Grundy or Hagerty but told me to just go through them directly since it would be the same premium.  I could probably save more by lowering my agreed and adding deductibles.  I'm only hesitating switching since I've be with Hagerty for 12 years.

Wow...after reading several pages on this 8 volt topic, I think I'll stick with my 6 volt like the car came with.

About to renew my Hagerty policy I've had for many years with no issues.  Just out of curiosity, I looked into a policy with Grundy and found out I could get more coverage, better towing benefits, etc. all for $100 less annually.

Any if you have Grundy or someone else I should consider?  I renew at the end of the month.

Thanks in advance for your input.

General Discussion / What Spark Plugs Are You Using?
October 31, 2013, 10:13:02 AM
Greetings:

Just an informal poll of what spark plugs you are using in your Plymouth's...feel free to state why you like what you're using over another brand/type you may have tried.

I'm currently running AC Delco C87's, but have long used Champion D16's.  Not sure if there is really any difference at all.

General Discussion / Motor Oil 101
October 15, 2013, 11:46:05 AM
Greetings:

Interesting read...everything you wanted to know (or not) about oil:

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/motor-oil-101/

Before I read this, I was thinking of trying out Rotella 15w40 in the '29.  I still may, but I will most likely stick with the QS 10w30 my Dad (and now I) have used in the car for many, many years.

Enjoy!

I was able to find a bracket...the horn is now correctly mounted:

Thanks Ian!

Old Man - my current setup for the horn has it mounted on a small L-shaped bracket on the left rear (driver's side) head bolt.  I'm quite sure this is incorrect and was done this way since the original (correct) horn bracket was never on the car.

General Discussion / Horn Bracket
September 17, 2013, 08:27:08 PM
Well, I thought I had one on eBay (with a horn I didn't need), but just ended up losing it...does anyone know of one or perhaps have an "extra" horn bracket for sale?  You know, the kind that mounts to the left side of the engine that has the 90 degree bend???  This is like trying to find the Holy Grail for me...

I know there's one out there somewhere....

Chet - let us know what you end up with...Check out Universal Tire (and the Lesters) if you haven't already!
