Tom,

Here is a shot of the driver's side.  Sorry I currently don't have access to get under the car.

Here is a view from the passenger side with flash.

The metal panel seems to be held in place by the front motor mount.

You have the Driver's side splash pan.  The passenger side pan has the exhaust pipe running through it.  See mine below.

That's Great Tom,

That was a trade that was a win/win for both of us.  My car is sitting perfect with the new springs and correct shackles.   :)

Thanks for sharing!  Also looking for a better way to share pics since Photobucket is now charging $$$.

Ted,

Do you want to play with the Photo Gallery I put up ?  Let me know.  You can't beat the price.

Bob,

Is it the same as the Restoration Supply mat that John is talking about.  Also do you sell this mat ?  and if so what is the cost ?

General Discussion / 29 Build Thread - Part 2
November 12, 2017, 10:10:35 AM
All Suspension Work Completed

The original Build Thread was getting quite long so I decided to start another since this Thread completes most of the structural work and all the suspension restoration.  I must admit that new springs all around and repairing the problems with the mismatch shackles makes a big difference.  So after a year since I started the restoration the car is finally sitting on it's own four wheels again and in perfect alignment.

So on to the next chapter.  I'll be working on replacing the floor next ?

Tom & Dave, Thanks a lot. Its been an adventure working on the suspension.  Once the rear is finished I can get the car back on its wheels.

I had new rear springs made by Eaton Detroit Springs.  The car should be set for the next 100 years:

The pictures of the tracker motor look fine.

I'll check into some photo sharing software and see what the costs might be.

Perplexing Issue:

I was preparing to install my new rear springs and while cleaning up the parts I noticed that the rear shackles were different in length.

It appears that the passenger side of my car had some early suspension repairs.  If you recall the front passenger side had a different shackle and a welded top leaf.  Now I find that the rear springs have different length shackles.  Passenger side (WME) approximately 3" between pin centers and the Driver's Side approximately 3.5" between pin centers ??  Which is correct.

Also the larger driver's side shackle had a marking on the center bolt.  [R] ??

I assume that these differences are why my car always sat a little lopsided.

Can anyone verify which length shackle is correct for a 29 4dr. Sedan.  You can check your car easily by measuring between the grease fittings they sit in the approximate centers of the pins.

Many thanks in advance, Chet...
