Rare Case Cars 2019 WMSTR Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion Case Expo

I got a real close look at some very rare cars this weekend. The Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion featured the National Case Expo. Case was (still is) a huge steam & gas tractor manufacturer in the late 1800's and early 1900's and one of the few tractor company's to survive all the buy outs and consolidations that ate up so many in the last century.

From the collectors page "The J.I. Case Threshing Machine Company purchased the Pierce Racine Automobile Company in August of 1910. From the start the Case Automobile was a high class car, and it is said, the best car one could buy for the price.  Do to declining sales and stiff competition from mass produced automobiles, the Case Company ceased production of automobiles in 1926/1927.  In total approximately 24,000 units were produced.  Today these cars are highly prized by collectors."

I read some where there are about 100 known to still exist. In the early hay days of autos, Henry Ford was cranking out more model T's in a week, than they produced in total. Due to the little screen I am working on, I'll make a new post for each car. See pictures below.

And a recreation of the largest traction engine ever made, the Case 150 Road locomotive. 10+ Years and around 1.5 million dollars.

No idea. Had I noticed it I would have investigated. I was moving so fast, there is so much ground to cover out there you need a couple days to do it justice.

That speedster was the coolest! I noticed the AACA doesn't even have a Case section. (unless I missed it)

Maybe he got tired of stopping to add oil.  :D  I don't think it would be for gasoline ??  Radiator connect by the driver would not be a good thing ? 

Definitely interesting to ponder.

Shared this with a co-worker, he found the answer.

"An interesting feature not usually found on passenger cars of that era, or any era, is the fuel filler pipe protruding from the dashboard into the passenger compartment. That is the pipe through which gasoline is poured into the 15-gallon tank. Gas is fed to the engine via a one-barrel Rayfield carburetor"

I wonder what engineer thought pouring gasoline inside the passenger compartment was a brilliant idea ??

It is a touring car, (open air) as long as you put your smoke out first... :o

Wonder of any went up in flames as a result of that awesome design?

I guess Henry Ford had the patent on the cowl tank.
