General Discussion / Some Plymouth questions
March 05, 2012, 04:10:46 PM
Thank-you if anyone here can help me with these questions..........

2- I would like to know where exactly the Plymouth vehicles were manufactured, in honesty I would like a cheat sheet of some sort that details where all Chrysler vehicles ( Maxwell as well ) cars were manufactured. 1924- 38 Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto, Fargo ect, as can be applied to the make of vehicle.

What plant and location.

3- I would like to confirm that all early Plymouth vehicles used the wood skeleton design much like Chevrolet and many others.

4- Until what year did they use this type of body, was there a specific body that maybe went with all steel before another for example?

5- Why didn't Chrysler use Budd bodies for the new Plymouth? Cost? Were Plymouth Fisher bodies ( all of them ) as I suspect?

Were these engines originally painted silver and if so than what years would have been this correct color and if not silver than what was original. Thanks

I am sorry, I have a signature set up on AACA website and thought I had carried all of that over to here. I only go to 3 sites and I guess somehow I missed this one,  never noticed that, thanks for for pointing that out. Let me see if I can figure out how to correct that.
Should be good to go now

I am sorry for the delay, not worth explaining except I have alot going on. I would like to offer what might be of assistance Chet and you can post it as you say.
Would someone please tell me who PLY33 is on the AACA site, I dont understand why people dont use their first names so we all know who we are dealing with.
He made ( has made ) some very good posts and one in particular stood out to me and I would like to know if he posts here as well and who he is by name. Thank-you

P.S I dont normally collect too much Plymouth memorbilia unless it has something to do with something I am working on and these bulletins just came to me with other literature I was purchasing/ requesting as a package deal.
Some of them are well into the thirties, some of them are original and some of them are photocopies. There are only maybe 25 or so, maybe less maybe more
They all have good information but maybe the later bulletins have no place here on this site. I do hope the information will be usefull to some of you guys.
I cant send them all at once because of time but can do my best with what time I have.

I would add that I myself would sorta be happy to find the hole, at least you know now why the car was prob. never finished. Good chance seller knew that was a problem and lost interest because of the mountain of a job that it appeared to have been.
I would assume at this point that otherwise you are good to go once you get that hole plugged up, it would be a shame to get rid of what I am assuming is the original engine for numbers reason so again hope you can find a way to save her.

I wouldnt throw out the block if you cant fix it with welding, there are many epoxies that might work assuming there is no pressure to the broken area. It is easy to be skeptical concerning epoxies but these glues have come a long way in the past few years, we glue quarter panels and entire roof skins and in some cases frame rails into car per manufacturers recomendations and I have never had a come back for any glue failure.
Myself would put down the welder because it may blow a bigger hole than what you already have. Good luck either way and happy to provide more info on the epoxies.

I have collected a bunch of late 20s early thirties Plymouth service bulletins and confidential bulletins. They are good info and would like to have more of them. If anyone is interested in exchanging photo copies of what they might have for what I have let me know. My e-mail is jhason2@yahoo.com Thanks
