John,

My car is a Hayes Body and I believe all 1929 cars built for the US market were Hayes Body.  This may have changed with the all steel body for the 30U and beyond.  I don't know if any of my door hardware is original so I can't help with identification.  I think I remember a past thread in this web that might have some clues so you might want to search the old posts.  Also the POC Technical Advisor for 4 cylinder cars might be able to help you.  racertb (Ted) has a nice original car though not a 4 door sedan

Cheers, Chet...

Looking good Chet . I did not see the different passenger side shackle , please show .....

Seasons Greetings and back to work.

I cleaned up the Shackle which was on the front passenger side spring.  This shackle is very different to the Tryon Shackle which I am told was used on this car.  I have attached a picture below in the hopes that someone might recognize this shackle.  I believe my rear springs also have this type of shackle.  Of course the rear shackle is a bit larger.
See Below...

Tks, Chet...

General Discussion / Re: Chrome Shops - recommendations?
December 20, 2016, 02:44:30 PM
Hay Jim & John,

I missed my opportunity to stop in Richmond to drop some parts off at Hanlon Plating.  The winds last Thursday closed the Bay bridge to light trailers and we escaped Delaware via the Bridge and Tunnel to Norfolk Va. Beach.  While down here in Florida I stop at a local chrome shop and got a price for the required work  ($1,300).  Which seemed a little high.  So based on your recommendation Jim, I will take these parts to Paul's Chrome and get a second opinion.

I assume we are talking about:  Paul's at:  90 Pattison Street • Evans City, PA 16033.

Am I correct,  Tks,  Chet...

It's been pretty nasty around here but no snow yet.  I am hoping to avoid snow to after New Years.

Fingers crossed, I have a feeling this will be a snow filled winter once it starts. ::)

Let me know if you hear anything different.  I believe my chrome to be original as when my Dad found the car in '62, except the bumpers which I had re-done in 2013.

According to POC & AACA you're correct.  All visible surfaces are chromed.   :)

Thanks Ted,

On my car now; the metal under the cap as well as the hood hinge loop is painted the same as the body color.  Pictures of the these old car's don't show that detail ??  I have this also posted on the POC forum but have yet to confirm what was originally done.  I think I will post on the AACA form as well.

If it is a Carter (DRT-08) it would be for Dodge used on 31-32 Dodge DH DL commonly used with Chevy  and can be used with early Plymouth & Chrysler to 1930

The additional lever was probably connected to the acceleration pump ?

My 2 cents

OK - But what about the front hinge loop for the engine hood.  Is that also Chrome ?
So I guess, all exposed surfaces ?

Nice looking Drums.  Did you reface them.  They look sleeved ?

General Discussion / Another Part Question
December 07, 2016, 05:43:36 PM
Concerning the radiator surround shroud.., I know the front is chromed but what about the square under the radiator cap.  Is this painted the body color or is it suppose to be chrome also?  My current one is painted the same as the car color.  I found a good one to have re-chromed and was just checking concerning the top square which is under the Cap.  Going to the platter next week.

Does this make sense to anyone or do I need to post a picture ?

Chet...
