Great work, as usual, Chet!

I'll disassemble, clean and check float and level again.  Pretty sure there is one jet that can't be removed.

Thanks Chet and Rich for your suggestions.  Probably a week or so before diving in.  I'll post results.

Interesting thought.  Would the gas be pushed back up through the strainer cap?  I have not remvoved the cap to watch.  The liquid volume decreases over time.  First thing to mind was some type of pressure differential, siphon?  I don't know all the internal plumbing.

Float seems intact.  Plexiglass bowl, anyone?

Doesn't leak when running.

General Discussion / Carb Drips Gas from Air Intake
June 05, 2018, 07:43:36 PM
Hi folks,

Anyone have this problem on a Carter RT-08 and solved it?  I'm stumped.  Leaks even with gas shut from vac tank.

Unfortunately Jon, Carb Shop, says this is what they do, but doesn't seem right.  Never a dull moment.

Thanks for any input,
frank

Chet,  Check your link, the one for the plymouthowners.club is correct.

Are you sure you don't want to install window regulator until after paint?  My recollection is the slotted screws face out towards inner door skin.

Great work!

General Discussion / Re: where do these go...?

Wonder if these are coupe specific?  I don't remember seeing anything like these on my sedan.

Dave was over yesterday with his gauge and we measured 75 psi for all cylinders, 1989 rebuild of .030 over.  I'm happy; thanks Dave.

Plugs were pretty black, though.  I believe this is from the carb.  It's been a long time since they were brown.  Time to clean the carb.

Also been puttering with vacuum on intake before this .  Initial measurement is a bouncy 20 - 21 at idle  Could dial it back to about 18 with major movement in distributor.  Needle settles to stationary with increased rpm.  These measurements are done with Spark Advance knob in Full Retard.  All this is a waste of time with the carb not operating properly.

I understand now.

Good, you are able to read the FEDCO number.  Mine was extremely hard to decipher due to exposure to the elements.  Attempting to find what month it was made, but no luck so far.

Does your body tag have a manufacturer stamped in it?  If so, who?

If you haven't gotten a manual for your car, they are extremely helpful for people like me.  I wish I had one when I bought my car.  It would have answered a myriad of questions.  You can find reproductions and originals on ebay from time to time.  Google 1929 manual, but you know that.

My tag is brass, located on drivers side floor and clearly says HAYES BODY CORP.  88-46139.  I understood 4 dr Sedan bodies were built by Hayes, other styles by Briggs.  Have you deciphered the numbers on your dash?
