General Discussion / Fifth Year Forum Anniversary
April 12, 2012, 07:59:25 PM
This past March 2012 represents the fifth year this web forum has been serving the Plymouth & early Mopar community.  Those members who are titled as Founding Members joined this web forum in its early infancy and have been long time contributing members who have helped make this place on the web a truly open environment for anyone who owns or wants to own an early Mopar..., modified or not.

There are many members who are also members of both large and small antique car clubs.  If you would like to recognize yourself as a member of a particular club.  I would be happy to setup groups for any member or members who request this classification.

So if setup.., it would appear like this:

chetbrz
FOUNDING MEMBER
Senior Forum Member

or

chetbrz
POC MEMBER
Senior Forum Member

or

chetbrz
AACA MEMBER
Senior Forum Member

or

chetbrz
LOCAL CLUB MEMBER
Senior Forum Member

Please keep in mind you can only be associated with one additional group classification.

This is just a thought to see if anybody is interested.  Once a group is setup there are numerous opportunities for creating special permissions and special board access.

Let me know what you think....  I am always looking to make things better.

Best Regards,  Chet...

General Discussion / Just for your information.

This board is being hit with 5 to 10 phony registrations per day.  These are coming mostly from the UK.  I have increased the security on this forum by installing the latest security patches and also by switching on the new member registration requirement.

As always, if anyone is experiencing issues or problems accessing these boards please contact me via email.

Dear All,

Over a three month period I have deleted over a 1000 false requests for membership in this forum.  Because of this malicious activity I have turned off new member registration.   All potential members will need to be approved prior to being allowed to post or access the private area of this web.  Sorry for this inconvenience but it is necessary to keep our forum free of unwanted Spammers & Troublemakers.

To Join this FREE Forum.  Please send a brief introduction email to chetbrz@aol.com

Your request to join this forum will then be reviewed and approved.  Sorry for this inconvenience but spammers and troublemakers have made this step necessary.

Also for everyone's protection I have hidden member contact information from Guest Users.

Sorry.    :-\

FORUM PURPOSE:

THIS FORUM IS FREE AND HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH ANY ORGANIZED ANTIQUE CAR CLUB.

This forum was created for people who regularly drive or wish to someday drive their 1928 Model Q, 1929 Model U, or 1930-U Plymouth.  All 4 cylinder Plymouth owners are welcomed as well as 1924 to 1932 Chrysler, Dodge, & DeSoto.  These early Plymouths and Chryslers are very similar in construction with many similarities in parts.  Actually after 80+ years.., any year noted could contain any combination or mixture of parts.   Since there are not a whole lot of these models around with even fewer experts on their repair and maintenance, I thought that having a place to share issues, problems, and practical information about these cars would be a big help to those who especially enjoy using them.

Therefore:

THE PURPOSE OF THIS FORUM IS TO FREELY SHARE INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE TIPS ABOUT THESE EARLY PLYMOUTHS & CHRYSLERS WITHOUT OPINION CONCERNING THE MODIFICATION OR USE OF YOUR VEHICLE.  KEEPING THESE WONDERFUL AND EXTRAORDINARY CARS RUNNING IS THIS WEB SITE'S FIRST PRIORITY.  YOU ALONE ARE LEFT TO BE THE JUDGE OF YOUR CAR.

PS... Posting information about a Sunday Drive is always welcomed especially if you post a picture.

Keep them rolling...

The weather Gods were good to me this weekend and the temperature here in Virginia was very mild.  I continued work on the drive train.   I installed the transmission that I cleaned up last weekend.

General Discussion / Just my Opinion

Maybe I am off base but I think this site should be about people who love to drive these great old antique rides.  A case in point.

Recently I received an email from a colleague in Germany who owns a 1927 Chrysler Model 52

I thought I would share this message from my colleague:

Hi Chet,   I wanted to thank for the copy of the Hemmings Motor News which you gave to John last week to bring to Germany.  Guenter told me that you are a vintage car enthusiast, too.  I have owned this 1927 Chrysler Model 52 Tourer for almost 20 years.  I bought the car in South Africa when I spent some time in Johannesburg on a work related project.  This kind of car is very scarce in Europe and it is almost impossible to find parts for it. Even in the States you have to be lucky to find parts.

Tks, Werner

What possessed this gentleman to ship this car from South Africa to Germany and then spend 20 years keeping it road worthy is something that I especially admire.  I think it is not about what color your generator is painted but about how much fun it is to drive & work on these great old rides.

Respecting the era, the craftsmanship, the previous owners who saved the vehicle so that we can enjoy it today, is something that I think is a part of the heritage that the car brings to its current parking place.

I think this is something that is sometimes forgotten in the critical car show evaluation check list.  The previous owners, their modifications, and their love for the vehicle is sometimes striped away to produce a factory perfect restoration.  Personally I love to see the scars, the wear, and the functionality that adds to the character of the car.

Cars in Museums are wonderful to look at, Cars on the road are an unbelievable joy to see & drive.

This forum was created for 1928 Model Q, 1929 Model U, and 1930-U Plymouths.  These early Plymouths are very similar in construction with many similarities in parts.  Actually after 75+ years.., any year noted could contain any combination or mixture of parts.  Also Chrysler 1924 to 1930 are also welcome.

Since there are not a whole lot of these models around with even fewer experts on their repair and maintenance, I thought that having a place to share issues, problems, and just general information about these cars would be a big help.

This forum is Free and has no opinion about how you modify your car.  The purpose here is to freely share information about these early Plymouths & Chryslers.  You alone are left to be the judge of your car.

Thanks for stopping by,  Chet...
