General Discussion / Re: Visitor from Down Under

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replys.

Craig,
I'm looking for the tube that has the spark plug leads running through it, A spare distributer, the mechanism to make the front windscreen up and down, and an original windscreen wiper motor, as well as the gasket kits.

We have just realised that the POC "Heart of America Driving Tour" is on in Kansas City so we have sent in our registration to attend on the four days.

Hi Ian,

for what its worth, I also prefer to use Penrite oils for our vintage cars. They are a bit more expensive, but I think well worth it.
As Tony advised they have a lot of knowledge as to what product best suits a particular application. I particularly like the engine oils they produce for Vintage and classic cars.

General Discussion / Visitor from Down Under

Hi Guys,

My wife and I are coming over to the USA from Australia in late August and all of September mainly visiting family. I will be travelling through Hawaii, San Diego, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Houston TX and Paducah KY to name a few places.

I will have and empty suitcase and hope to pick up a Plymouth Q engine gasket set, carby rebuild kit and possibly a few other small parts as spares for my Q in my travels.

Can anyone suggest the best places to get the gasket kits?

If there are any Plymouth owners in the areas I am visiting that would like to catch up and show me their vehicles I would be over joyed.

Hi again Doug,

I just saw the photos you posted in the previous posting. My mechanism looks nothing like that. I'll take a photo of it this afternoon. Looks more like a modern window winder but with only limited movement.

Thanks Doug,

My regulator and arms work when the handle is wound. I have nothing on top of the windscreen to attach the arms to.

Can someone please advise how the front windscreen operates and how is the moving arms attached to the windscreen. I,ve had my car for 4 years and the mechanism has never worked in that time. As winter is coming I decided to remove the trim and check out why and to see if I could stop the water leaking when it rains.
On removing the trim I found that the arms that move when the handle is wound have no way of being attached to the top of the windscreen. I presume there needs to be some form of channel attached to the top of the windscreen and it should move up when wound?
Can someone supply a photo or sketch of what is missing?

Hi Guys,
Wayne, sorry you couldn't make it. Tony obviously found all the good stuff. Actually it was a very good day for the club. I missed most of it. After my shift, I went home to sleep and by the time I got back it was all over, except for the clean up.
Will try and catch up with you guys soon.

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the pictures and for the offer of the dimensions. Also a good idea of yours to start a Ute building thread. A little tied up tonight, but once I have the Berwick swap over with I will start the thread and post a few pictures of the hearse, also photos of a 26 Chrysler Buckboard that I wish I had of kept.

Hi Wayne,

Yes, it's at Akoonah Park (Berwick Showgrounds), Princes Hwy, Berwick. I'm sure you will find it worth while.
I usually have my 28 Plymouth Sedan on display but a bit busy this year so I'm not taking it.
If you do make it give me a call on 0418140844 (around mid day please) and we can catch up.

Just a reminder for anyone near Melbourne Australia that the Berwick Swap is on this Saturday run by the Dandenong Valley Historic Car Club. Arguably the biggest and best Swap in the Melbourne metropolitan area.been running over 35 years. Buyers gates open 6.00am Sat Morning. it will be a busy day I am on the Gate from 6.00pm friday to 6.00am Saturday. We have stall holders coming in all through to night so they can get good spots. Weather looks like its going to be good.
Last year we were flooded out. 3.oclock in the morning the creek went from 1 metre wide x .5 metres deep to 5 metres deep and 200 metres wide. We spent the night fishing people, their vehicles and their stalls out of it.

Hi Wayne,

Glad to see that you've got it home. Thought your sons tribute to his grandfather really great. Definately nothing morbid about it.
You,ve taken on a big project. Good luck with it.
Are you going to make it into a Ute or rebuid it as a tourer? If you go the way of the Ute I'd be very interested in seeing what design you use for the tray. I have just sold my 36 Plymouth sedan to make way for my next project. I'm wanting a 28 "Q" ute for a unique hearse body I have. It was built by a "Chippy" in a small town near Hobart. If he had a funeral he would clean up his builders ute and slide the hearse body on. After he would slide the hearse off the Ute, put his tools back in and go back to building houses.
Interested to hear if anyone knows of a "Q" ute that might be available.

regards
