General Discussion / Re: Manifold gasket

It looks like there is machined recess in the block and manifold for alinement rings/sleeve.  Did the 29 come with them?  I have them in my 41 Chevy 216 straight 6.

I have a leaking exhaust gasket.  I bought a new old from BEST and it looks like it has some type of graphite coating.  This goes on dry, correct?

He does have a bunch of parts.

Whenever my cylinders leaked, the brakes shoes just absorbed the brake fluid like a sponge.  I always needed to get new shoes.  A old timer at the local parts place tells how he used to grind off the old material and revivit on the new brake lining, back in the day.  Never wore a mask.  He has some great stories.

It was very cloudy and only 69 degrees.  Perfect for a old with no water pump.  Only Plymouth there.

Did anyone use their Plymouth for parade duty this 4th?

I had all of mine sleeved in stainless.  It is pricey but never had issues.  My wheel cylinders were heavily pitted and the master was worse,  I used Minnesota brake warehouse .  I have sent many many stuff to them and have been happy.

Sure looks nice on the photo.  The orginial was pot metal and was never expected to last 80 years.  Turns out thAt is the one of only few parts that was good on mine.  Go figure

General Discussion / Re: Fuel pump pressure
May 31, 2016, 11:08:35 PM
When I first brought mine, the vacuum pump worked.  I took most of the drive train apart to fix or rebuild but could never get that pump to work again.  It is very simple but I could never figure out if the problem was the vacuum tank or the vacuum side of the oil pump.  I gave up and went with a electric pump.
Joys of a old car.

General Discussion / Fuel pump pressure
May 18, 2016, 11:55:05 PM
It has taken me a year to find a rebuildable oil pump core.  Fired up the old girl and it had good oil pressure but the carb was leaking fuel.  I have a electric fuel pump for years and a I run a regulator at the lowest setting and never had a issue.  I put a pressure gauge on and got a reading of 2.5 psi.  I think this is too high as gas is leaking.  Since the Kingston (?spelling) fuel pump was mostly gravity to the carb, should the pressure to the car be more like 0.5 to 1  psi?   I think my regulator is bad?

Cast iron case is larger.  It will work as a function oil pump.

The inside of the cast iron housing was very smooth.  I did hone with a brake hone to break up some of the glaze.  I then noticed that the cover plate is difference between the two.  Both interchange sort of.  One is a smaller plate and you can see how it does not fit the housing completely.  They both will work for a oil pump.  The cover plates are different.  I figure one is 29 other is ????

I removed the nut with a cordless impact wrench.  The gear is held on by a slotted key way.  A puller and some heat and the gear came off.
