It is such a nice day, couldn't resist the urge to go for a drive in the 29.  We drove out to Clouds Cove, a farming area nestled between the hills and the Tennessee River Southwest of Huntsville, Alabama.  We drive 40 miles round trip.

We didn't drive it all summer, from July to August.  We started driving again the last Saturday in Sept. We drove it 6 times in October. Today was the longest drive of the year.  So far this year we only drove a total of 248 miles.  In years past we would drive it almost 1,500 miles a year, mostly on Saturday mornings.

We couldn't resist the urge to go for a drive in the 29 Plymouth. We drove 40 miles this morning. A beautiful day. Saturday mornings are good times to take her on a drive since there a few other cars on the road. We stopped by the volunteer fire station and took some pictures.  Now to reduce the size so I can post!

Looking great!  I like your idea of using escrow on the side panels above the front seat back.

General Discussion / Re: Clutch question
November 24, 2019, 06:53:16 PM
After 5 months my 29 Plymouth is back on the road again, thanks to a  clutch off a parts car in California.

I tried to install the 31 clutch and throughout bearing on my 29, but had problems getting the bearing guide post to line up.  I believe my transmission was repaired years ago and welded on the front, such that the bearing guide pin does no line up properly. It works for my 29 because the pin had been bent in such a way to make it work.  However, the throughout bearing on  a 31 is different and the bent pin did not seem to line up on it, and I was not sure I could modify it to make it work.  It should not be a problem with a transmission that had not been repaired in that way.

Anyway, we are operational again.

Hi Chet,
I located a 28-29 clutch pressure plate assembly and sent it to Kentucky Clutch for rebuild. It is ready for install. However, I also located a pressure plate assembly and throw out bearing for a 1931 Plymouth and it looks like it will fit. The design is more like a modern clutch pressure plate assembly, so it might be a better design.  I probably will put the 28-29 clutch in, and keep the 1931 clutch as a spare.

General Discussion / Re: Wooden wheel

I have a spare rear wooden 20 inch wheel for a 29U.  You are welcome to have it for cost of shipping. I used it for awhile when I was restoring my rear wheels one at a time. It rode well, but I would suggest replacing the spoke bolts so they all look alike.

Very nice!

General Discussion / Clutch question
October 26, 2019, 09:35:17 AM
Has anyone installed a 1931 Plymouth clutch on a 1929 Plymouth?  It looks like it will fit, but there are some part number differences in the fork and bell housing, so I wonder....

Marc,
That is exactly what I am looking for. That should get my car on the road again.

Trying to assemble a working clutch for my 29 Plymouth.  I have parts of three different style clutches, none complete.  Looking for either: (1) throw out bearing for 1930-31 clutch, (2) pressure plate for a 1929-30 clutch, or (3) a release finger for a 1928-29 clutch.

Chet,
Thanks for the advice.  I have ordered a 1930U owners manual and hope it will have specific instructions on adjusting the clutch.
