« on: March 13, 2015, 12:58:51 AM »
Looking for right main side sill cover(that's what the fisher body service manual calls it,assuming briggs calls it same )left side is good right side is full of holes.probably easier to replace than to repair if one can be located. Any leads appreciated JG.

the sill cover(that's what fisher called it(not sure what briggs called it)is the sheet metal that covers the main side sills (46inches long x 2inches high on model u) with a slight curve to match body shape, they are than nailed to wood sills top and bottom.when you open the door that is the metal trim you see on edge of floor.                         thank you for a response JG

Are the aluminum sills installed on top of the sill cover, or do you install the aluminum sill plates first, then slide the sill covers over them?

my car was missing the aluminum sills. I assume they get installed over the side sill covers because the fit of the side sill covers over the wood  is  tight. When I disassembled mine it had all original nails still securely in place on the side that was not altered. JG

Chet,
That's the address, but I thought his name was Don Kuhn.  The sticker on the box lists the business as
Door Sills, LLC.
His sills are an exact fit right down to the screw holes and end cut outs.  This is the best repro body part I have ever purchased.  No modifications were required.

Thanks John,

I will definitely give Don a shout.  Still working down the check list and hoping to start on the 29 soon.  Haven't even taken out my 48 for a drive yet this summer.  The sad news is there isn't anything that needs to be fixed on it.., It just needs to be driven.   :o   I can't believe I am retired and can't find time to work on my car or for that matter drive it.  Maybe I need to go back to work ???
