Title: 1929 model u B pillar
Post by: jeffrey grare on June 20, 2018, 11:41:05 AM
I am in the process of installing my new side sills. It looks like the (center) B pillar brackets have been altered in the past, I would think there would have just been a brecket at the bottom and a small t brace at the top. Does anyone have a picture of the correct  brackets mine are the width of the sills and go the full length of the b pillar (approximately. 43 inches) and form a *t* at the top where they attach to the roof framing.    thanks in advance for any help    j Grare

What you described seems correct.  Below is a picture of the bottom 'L' bracket.  You are correct this runs the length of the pillar and terminates at the top as a 'T' bracket.

The top bracket:

This might help you but there are differences between original wood construction and my sill & roof frame.

Good luck,  Chet...

chet, thank you for the photo and fast reply.I  had already notched the new sill ( the brace extends down about an 1 1/4 and has holes for two screws to go into the sill).the old sill was rotted away in that area so I was not sure if someone had  modified the brace. Again thank you for the photo j.grare
