28Us had 20 inch wheels and 29/30 Us had 29 inch wheels. Is this correct?

My 29U Roadster has 20" wood spoke wheels (tire size is 20").  I think in '30 they went to 19, but not sure.

My 29 Sedan has 20 inch wheels and wood spokes.
I think they may have switch to 19 inch sometime in late 29.  My car was built in May 1929 I believe.

As John said, later assembled 29U had 19" wheels.  These are on my car.

Thanks John & Frank. I was beginning to think that I was the only 29U with 19 inch wheels.

OK next question. Can the 19s and 20s be interchangeable? Are the spindle, brakes drums, bearings the same size for both? In other words can replace my 19s with 20s without doing a major job?

chetbrz

The answer is Yes.

I have 20" wheels on my 29 which was manufactured around March of 1929.  I also have a complete set of 19" wheels from a 30u and they swap out no problem. Drums and hubs are the same.
