Hard to say, they don't come up often. On eBay I found a new old stock dash coil, less the trim, key, pot metal and all that see it here >     http://www.1948plymouth.info/28Q29U/index.php?topic=811.msg7227#msg7227  and I think it I got for $60 something? (can't remember)

I would guess a complete coil with key working would bring 150 - 200. Just a random guess. A purest would want one, most cars I see come up for sale have a fake switch in place.

Power the coil and attach a plug wire to where the large wire goes to the distributor.  Remember wiring is for a positive ground system.  With the ignition in the on position you can fire the plug by applying power and removing power.  Spark plug fires when power is removed (simulate the points).  You will see a spark.

With the ignition switch off no sparks.
