General Discussion / hood latches

Dear all,

finally my car seems to be going on the track. the mechanics, wood and structure is done. I am having a honeycomb radiator fitted to the correct specs, but it is taking forever. I wish I could have brought home one from the US... I am now looking at the details and need some help. I will post in different posts to avoid forgeting anything.

Can anyone post a photo of the correct hood latches model and the length? The ones on my car were all four different! Also if anyone knows of a source of good NOS I will apreciate the referral.

Best regards,
martin

The copper brake line is 1/4 inch OD.  You can readily get modern 90-10 copper nickle that is approved for brake lines.  Do not use hardware store stuff on brakes.

Dear all, thanks for your help! I hope that 2011 will see this long long endless project!!!

Hello everyone,

short question: can anyone tell the diameter of the cooper tubing of the brake system? inner and outer diameter. I will have it done this week, so if anyone can help I will apreciate it.

Chet,
thanks for the quick turnaround. I did not realize that amperage wise today-s would be "bigger", so the concern is really physical size.

thanks again.

General Discussion / battery
June 24, 2010, 12:12:58 PM
Hello all,
short question. Does anyone know or can check what is the amperage of the batteries for 1929 u model? I am either looking at the wrong places or cannot find it. Checked on the instruction book and the parts manual and could not find it there. Mind I am in Argentina and do not have access as you to everything. Buying a battery in the US and shipping it here is totally out of the question so I need to accomodate to what I can find.
thanks.

General Discussion / Re: radiator photo

Thanks all for your replies. I am right now in Tokyo heading home and was not able to check the board during the long and tiring trip. I am confused, I thought the radiator ought to have been celular grid (check the cores on this page http://www.vintagecarradiatorcompany.co.uk/page2.html). All Plys I have seen in Argentina this far (about 4) none have honeycomb and another one had also celular, so I thought it should have been the original... well too much of lack of knowledge then... I would appreciate a front photo similar to the ones on the webpage to be sure of the exact design of the honeycomb. Thanks again to everyone!!!

General Discussion / radiator photo
September 09, 2009, 09:31:09 PM
Hello everyone,
Can anyone upload a nice looking photo of a radiator front. The radiator I had on the car had one design. I was looking at a very nicely restored ply this last weekend, and has a honeycomb. I was quite surprised to see this. So now I have the doubt of what was the original design. if anyone can help I will be more than appreciative.
best regards,

Thanks for the reminder. Somehow I though it was the earlier manual. I have not found it anywhere on the web. I am moved three times this year and I boxed it but really do not remember in which one.

thanks!

Hello everyone,

I recall having read a post where the 1929 parts manual was available to download. I did not keep the post nor the link. Anyone else remembers?

thanks. have a nice weekend.

General Discussion / Re: Wood kits?
September 18, 2007, 04:35:18 AM
wood kits? that sounds like a lot of money savings. the wood of my ply was totally destroyed by whatever you call those little wood eaters that I really hate for many green reasons (yes dollars, it all ends in monies). I can show you some pics of how mine is being restored. Not me but a old carpenter who takes his time, a lot of time... probably it will not help you to do the project but can give some rough idea. basically what we did is to start dissasembling the car in stages. each stage had to be a full wooden part in order to be able to copy it exactly without tearing it or breaking it. this takes time, but not withholding a blue print I guess it is the only way to do it. and yes if you don't do it yourself it costs money. also if you want to use the same wood, which for you in the north I would encourage, it will surely increase cost. remember that the wood was used to give structural strength to the car, so use good wood or else you will have to do it again. I was not able to get the same one, not sure what the english name is, if at all I found it, it would have cost a fortune as it is imported because we have none of those trees around.

I can try to post the pics but I will not be able to do it for a week or so as I am now on the road.

cheers!

I thought I would write something about how I am doing with my ply just to move you guys.
I still have not decided who will do the paint and bezels, still thinking I am getting ripped. Meanwhile I got quite a few things on eBay and elsewhere. Headlight lenses, rear lense and bought the YNZ electrical installation. I was traveling to the US this end of month to get hold of everything but my business trip got cancelled and will have to wait a couple of weeks more till one of the colleagues travels.

have a nice weekend!
