Below is a picture of what is left of the center hood guide which is attached to the fender flat. I am in the process of repairing these pieces and this one is an easy fabrication but I would like to know what was originally attached to it. I assume some type of rubber stop ??

Anyone have a picture of what this should look like with all it's parts.
Tks, Chet...
I see no such contraption on my car. Assuming I'm looking in the correct spot, just 2 holes...
Chet, It appears to be just a rubber bumper that is riveted on. The rivet has a round head and is attached by bending two flat shanks back against the mounting plate. Kind of like those old brass pins used to hold several sheets of paper together.

That hard kind of shiny surface on the rubber bumper is just heavy paint which is probably what preserved the dried up rubber all these years.
Could you tell me what the thickness is of that rubber piece.
Chet, It's 1/4" thick. Looks like the width was 1 3/8" and it hung over the sides of the mount by about 1/16 on each end. One end of mine is gone but the remaining side is this way. The height was probably the same as the mount as the only side I have remaining is missing just below the rivets. The material seems to be ordinary hard rubber almost like old tire tread.

Many thanks. This is what I thought but it's good to get a second opinion

Thanks.
