Where do you live Russ ? Alaska ? lol There was a large Mecum auction this last week, and there carriers would ship a tractor 6 hours for 300-350$

It would take me 10.5 hours each way. So 2 days, one night hotel and diesel. I am tempted to call and ask for pictures, just in case it goes dirt cheap. I need more garage than I need a 6th car to join my 4 tractors... but who can pass up a steal?? I would have her running in a week   ;)

Interesting, has the potential to go low. Won't stay running and brakes are stuck.

Need pictures of the interior and under hood. Who knows whats going on in there. Good buy at 3G?

I have the metal section on my 30-U thermosyphon system but there is a by-pass running from it to the upper hose.  Car always runs cool but I have no idea what purpose the by-pass is intended to serve.  I have always assumed that was the way it was designed until this thread but based on what I am seeing it looks like the previous owner made that set up for some reason.  Does anyone know what purpose it was intended to serve?

Like this? Picture is from an auction car Chet listed.

Its added on. Probably a rust repair.

It already has the premium finish on it, let it roll.

The only people who will ever know are the ones you tell, or some scrupulous forum member here  ;D

QuoteAn interesting piece of info I came across is someone mentioned the battery terminal on his coil lost contact so he connected the wire to the gas gauge terminal and got it home.

That is how mine is still running.

From my resto thread when I was getting my running again.

QuoteOn my good coil I get about 1.5 ohms across - to +. Try it on the original batt to timer its open regardless of key position. Then I tried it from the gas gauge terminal to timer and get 1.5 ohms with the key on and open with it off. Wired it up temporary in the car, using the GAS GAGE terminal instead of BATT, coil wire to ground and open the points and zap! have strong spark!

It is a touring car, (open air) as long as you put your smoke out first... :o

Wonder of any went up in flames as a result of that awesome design?

Shared this with a co-worker, he found the answer.

"An interesting feature not usually found on passenger cars of that era, or any era, is the fuel filler pipe protruding from the dashboard into the passenger compartment. That is the pipe through which gasoline is poured into the 15-gallon tank. Gas is fed to the engine via a one-barrel Rayfield carburetor"
