Hi Carson,

Welcome!  You will find we are all partial to pictures.  If your choke knob has original printing, I would love a close-up of it.

Chet,  Interesting article.  I would disagree with Edwin's statement of both housings being for Bendix. The pictured #13 is described as Bendix and #14 as Motor Clutch.  The Motor Clutch uses the Shift Lever #17.  The starter must have changed with the change of the Ring Gear at engine # U89290.  The Delco-Remy starter motor for the earlier engine is 714-J as Edwin says.

All this hoo-ha said, do the flywheels/ring gears have the part number on them for identification?  How could you positively identify the e-bay flywheel?

Aren't these fun??

I found this on ebay.   I don't think flywheels are interchangeable for all years though.  frank

From the 1934 parts book, 30-U, PA and PB are the same.  Have you tried egge?

Good luck,

General Discussion / Re: Radiator Emblem

I thought Old Man addressed this before and "indicated" it was copper for 29 also.  I tried a search for that, but as usual, came up empty.  The base metal looks a bit dodgy next to a shiny radiator surround?  I think I have one that has a bit of Cu color in the hull of the ship.

Well done, Chet!  Are you going to try a copper paint on the "silver" areas?

The pictures by J & M should keep us entertained.  Been a long time since seeing a bare engine and all the parts.  I may have to remove my valve spring cover to see how bad it is.  Hope all goes smoothly.      frank

Well now Chet.  Those circus colors would go nicely with the polka dot interior!  Could have some interesting combos in those taxi's, you know.   Engine came out easy since you didn't mention issues?    frank

Chet, if memory serves correctly, you have the right idea.  Lower the rear to clear the steering while raising the front end over the frame and bringing forward.  You won't have any problems.   frank
