John,  Paint job looks sharp!  What color will your pin stripe be?

Dave/Chet,  Re: trunk.  not to butt in, butt...  from AACA.  Trunk intrigued me from the get-go.

Tom, thanks for the offer on the clamps.  I won't be doing anything for another 6 months.  I'll check Dave's website, too.

Great summary Dave.  I'll be needing that hose and clamps for the roadster.   Used to get hose at the local one-man repair shop a few blocks away.  Gettin' too old!  frank

John,

Have you explored companies and their costs for reproducing these?  Count on me for buying at least one of all interior handles; door, window, quarter window.

As you know, Jay Fisher re-produced the door and window handles with chrome finish.  I bought his entire stock of those, 1 each, at Iola swap many years ago.  (also the crank hole cover, which another is needed)  He said his biggest cost was drilling the square mounting hole.  Pic shows what is not presently on my car.  The window knob is cracked and corroded a bit.  Maybe it could be scanned, cleaned and 3d printed for casting purposes?

What I understand is there are no production numbers available by model for '28 and '29; and Hayes made the 4dr sedan bodies in '28 and '29, Briggs made all the others.  I too have noticed the different numbers for various parts and have no idea what the difference is.

The design on the interior hardware is the same 28 - 30.  The 30 hardware is not made of pot metal and is less massive than 28, 29 which, I believe, are the same.
Also think this design used on other makes, possibly some Chrysler, DeSoto??

Her is a window crank and 2 sizes of the quarter window.  The "smaller" handle is from a 1930U.

Dave,  Finally installed all wheel cylinders and finished the master cylinder yesterday.  Bought brake fluid and cotter pins for the axle nuts, today.  Can start to bleed and find out where the leaks are.  With the wretched weather in the forecast, I don't see a road test in the near future, but who knows?

Thanks, Chet.

Happy Holidays and New Year to you and everyone.  May 2017 see accomplishments on all projects being worked on; Plymouths, tractors, houses and everything in between.

Chet,    I hope the snow is delayed for you, except for the resort areas that depend upon it.  This cold is for all the animals who hibernate.  Below 0 temps are just not my cup of tea.  Oh well, enough whining about what can't be controlled.  Watching Ted's progress is very encouraging and your making great strides.  Keep up the excellent work, men!

Painted cylinders and front banjo.

I got my brake cylinders and hose back late last week.  I wanted to paint a bit before install.  Attached the rear hose and the front to frame fitting while paint was drying, 2 days.  Then installed the wheel cylinders and attempted the hoses in front - wrong size i.d. washers.  Back to B & E today.

It's been a bit chilly here and the garage has no heat except for the hot buttered rum in the under paid flunky doing this work.  Thought you might enjoy seeing what this Ply has replaced in the garage.  That convertible is longing for 70+ degrees.

Chet,   The moldings look correct.  Bob Romano (sp) of the Plymouth Club supposedly has these available.   frank

(I purchased these years ago from a place in MO, but understand they are no longer in business.  My roadster has none of them.)

From AACA, his email is bobroman@yahoo.com

Chet,

I finally received my new title today reading 1929!  They even included a copy of page 1157 of a book(?) that states the serial numbers, FEDCO, of 1929 cars.

I'm astounded.  I wish I knew the title of this book containing this information.      frank

Looks good. Chet.  Of course you know, now is the time to replace the horn wire, if needed.  Nice job on the spring bumpers.  frank

Chet,

From memory,

Remove CLUM switch, all metal from the tubes below the steering gear and loosen any clamps that would prevent the tubes from moving towards the steering wheel.  The horn wire will go with the tubes as you remove them.

Pull up gently on the bakelite next to the steering wheel.  Every thing should ease out.  The tubes are attached to the levers.

The 2 bakelite pieces are joined by 2 screws and ferrules.  Note the orientation of the levers for reassembly.  I didn't and fussed with getting it back correctly, light lever at 6 o'clock or towards the bottom.

Unfortunately, I have no pictures.  If I could do it without wrecking anything, I know you can.  Other folks can provide better detail.
