I am looking for 2 different items:

1) Waffle washers also referred to as wavy washers or buckle washers (picture attached); these fit between the fabric discs that comprise the front and rear universal joints.  I need 24. I believe a full complement is 42.

2) The machine screws (picture attached) that anchor the hinges to the doors and A pilar. Mine is a '29 coupe. I do not know if other body styles used the same screw but I would guess they do.  Some of mine have a damaged screwdriver slot making them unusable.  I need 6 screws with good slots and threads.

I need a driver's side rear fender for my '29 business coupe; would buy the right side too if available.  Would like fairly good condition if possible (mine are repairable but need quite a bit of work). I believe sedan fenders are different than coupe fenders.  Let me know and pictures if possible.  Thanks for your reply.  Kim

I am working on restoring a '29 business coupe.  There are separate back and bottom cushions that are just placed in the cab.  Is that how it was done.  I have seen pictures of one piece metal frames with springs (fabric gone).  Did the '29 have a metal frame that held the back and seat cushions?  I am looking for information and if you are a '29 coupe owner could I impose on you for a picture please?  If there is a frame, I need to start looking for one to buy.  Thank you in advance.  Kim

I recently revisited Tod Fitch's web-site that is a gold mine of valuable information about vintage Plymouths.  While exploring the site I discovered model specification information that I had previously overlooked.  I thought it would be worthwhile to pass this along on the forum as there are frequent questions posted about various mechanical tolerances and standards of adjustment.  I am going to describe step by step instructions to retrieve the great work Tod has done to consolidate all these details for us.  If you are already aware of this you can skip the remainder of this post.

First, go to ply33.com
Home page will appear with Home, Model Info, Repair, Parts, etc; click on Model Info
On Model Info page there will be a line with Intro, Q, U, 30-U, PA, PB, etc; click on your Plymouth model (I am using U as an example)
After clicking on the model you choose, U in my case, that page will come up (1929 Plymouth in my case)
On the year model Plymouth page, (Engineering Code xx), there's a list Highlights & commentary, Production & Serial Nos, Specifications, etc
Click on Specifications; there beneath a brief table a line states Detailed Specifications & Standards of Adjustment are on another page
Click on Detailed Specifications & Standards of Adjustment; a multi-page table will show the many specifications for your selected model

While gathering parts to go for powder coating I came across these 2 pieces that I failed to label.  I can remember what they are or where they go.  I am feeling pretty stupid to have to ask but this is driving me nuts.  There are captured nuts on the side arms which had large rubber washers on the back side (for vibration?).  I don't know how thick the washers were either.  Thanks for the help.  mc

I am still looking to buy 2 "bumper plates" (picture attached).  Bent, cracked, or even broken parts are acceptable.  The face on the ones I have is flat, not slightly curved like one I bought off the internet.  Thanks for your help.  Kim Mc

On the early Plymouths, like my '29, there seem to have been different plating coatings used on different parts.  I could use some help with this.

steel wheel rims:  cadmium   Did anything else receive cadmium plating?
bumpers:  chrome or nickel?  I've seen lots of chrome but an old timer told me they were nickel originally.  What is the consensus?
headlights and radiator cowl:  chrome?  My headlights are original (I believe) and chrome.  Same for radiator cowl?
door handles and window cranks:  nickel

I have what I think is the passenger side "splash pan" that goes alongside the engine at the oil pan level in my '29 coupe (picture attached).  However, I just have the one and I have no idea what the piece on the other side looks like or even if there is one on the driver's side.  If one of you could send me a picture of the driver's side splash pan, I would appreciate it.  Then I can start looking for a replacement.  Thanks for the help.  Kim Mc

I have searched the internet for good examples of color combinations for my old Plymouth.  I recently looked at TCP Global as I used their paint on another vehicle.  Many of you probably already know of this site but I was excited to find what I believe is the exact color combination for my 1929 business coupe (chrome green dark).  Here is the link (you can enlarge the samples by double clicking to get a larger image to look at).  http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/EraChips.html   Now you just have to decide which color fits your car.  Kim

I am leaving tomorrow to drive my '35 to Tucson along with a '33 2dr sedan, '37 coupe, and a '46 sedan from the SF Bay area.  The one-way trip is over 900 mi and will all be on 2-lane roads; should be an interesting adventure!  I was thinking that if any forum members wanted me to get a picture of something on a particular model/year car I would try to do that if you will reply to this post with the specific request.  I'll also try to post some pictures of our trip and the event.  Kim Mc

I've taken my '29 engine (original) to a rebuilder.  I believe it to be in good condition (it still turns over easily), has about 60K miles on it, but hasn't been run since the 50's.  I was thinking about installing inserts until I read the two threads on this forum about babbitt vs. inserts.  Now I'm leaning towards staying with the babbitt.  And, maybe the babbitt bearings in it don't need replacement.  Anyhow, I'm looking for guidance from all of you with experience (or opinion) regarding rebuilding these early engines.  I just plan to drive mine occasionally just for the enjoyment; I'm not trying to build a show car or a daily driver.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks.  Kim

I am getting ready to pull the engine from my '29U.  Will it come out easily without removing the steering column and box?  I want to keep the steering in for now so I can move the car around.  Thanks for your help.  Kim Mc

Last week a street rodding neighbor called and said he was bringing a radiator over for me to look at.  He bought it sight-unseen from a friend who said it would fit his '32 International pickup street rod.  It wasn't right so he brought it over and asked me if I knew what the radiator fit; he was going to take it to a swap meet to sell.  What I saw was a "honey-comb" core vintage radiator still secured in the original wooden crate.  I told him it looked identical to the radiator in my '29 Plymouth coupe.  We pulled out the box and on the end of the crate was stenciled "radiator for Plymouth; 1929-30, 4 cyl".  Apparently no one bothered to look at the box!  I bought it right there.  I needed it for the restoration of my great-grandfathers coupe.  Sorry, it is not for sale.  But I thought some of you would like to see it.  Kim Mc

I'm working on restoration of my '29 biz coupe.  I know cooling the '29 engine can be an issue since it doesn't have a water pump.  Also, summer air temperatures in the central valley of CA where I live could present a challenge to keeping the engine running cool when driving it in during hot weather.  I was wondering if anyone out there has experimented with placing a small 6v in-line water pump alongside the lower radiator hose to force more water through the radiator?  Would this work?  Could it overwhelm the radiator flow capacity and force water out the overflow (thereby making the overheating problem potentially a bigger problem).  It seems to me that such a strategy could work and would not require major modifications.  I would appreciate hearing thoughts and ideas, especially from anyone who may have tried this or other modifications to improve engine cooling.  Thanks.  Kim Mc

I've never changed a tire on one of these old split rims.  I have the split rim tool but I don't know how to use it.  Also, I don't know the correct procedure to unmount the old tire and mount the replacement.  Are "how to" instructions available anywhere or can someone brief me on the correct procedure/process?  Thank you.  Kim Mc

The metal edge of the radiator shell around the radiator fill hole has corroded away (picture attached).  Can someone advise me if this can be repaired and who might have the skills to make the repair?  Thanks guys.  Kim

Can someone tell me how to remove the "steering gear control cover", that donut shaped bakelite piece that surrounds the horn button and covers the light and throttle levers on the steering wheel of my '29 coupe.  I want to start working on fabricating new levers as my pot-metal ones are broken (as most are I understand).  It seems like it should unscrew but I can't budge it and I don't want to break it.  I thought someone out there might be able to give me some advice.  Thanks.  Kim Mc

I just removed the combination ignition switch/coil from my '29 coupe.  The switch on the back of the coil is pot metal and has so many cracks in it that it could crumble in many small pieces at any time (picture attached).  I'm sure these are the original parts.  I was planning to replace this with a new switch/coil combo from Atwater-Kent.  Does someone know how the bezel surrounding the lock cylinder is attached and how to remove it without damage?  Has anyone installed the Atwater-Kent switch/coil combo?  Also, is there anyone out there that refurbishes the bezel with new paint, lettering (ignition,on, off, lock).  I don't know if the coil is good and the key has been lost.  Any advice or guidance you might be able to provide is appreciated.  I am a novice at this.  Thanks.  Kim Mc
