March 13, 2013, 02:50:09 PM

General Discussion / Swamp Cooler
June 28, 2012, 06:53:35 PM
Has anybody tryed the old time "Swamp Coolers" on their trips? I got hold of one last week, I tryed it out in the garage, just to see how cool it really got, I was surprised. It is from 1956, brand new, never used, with all the original paperwork and packageing. I was impressed and plan to get some good use out of it this summer. I have attached a couple pictures, let me know if anybody has tryed these out. Thanks,
SD Glenn

Does anybody know of any sites that cover the Plymouth cars, between the P4 and the P15 series? I am finding it very hard to find out anything about the 1939 model P7 and P8 particulary. I have only seen very few other 1939 model, William Steeds and one other convertible. I saw a couple P8 sedans but no P7's. Is the P7 that scarce? If that is true, that would be one more reason to try get this one as original as posible.  I have been using this one as a daily driver, and am catching up with Bob Drown on miles driven.. LOL  (I'll meet you half way for coffee Bob)

General Discussion / X-military Plymouth
February 08, 2012, 05:15:55 PM
For the personnel downunder, if you do not get on the POC Site.
Since this is not a military plymouth.........
I have gotten the brakes up to par, and they now work great. I have replaced the windshields and door windows, along with the weather stripping and all the seals for the windows (from Andy), they all fit perfectly.  I wanted to get the engine running before I decided how far I was going to go with this one. However, to get at the engine easily I took the fenders off to replace the Fender welting while I was at it. Of course the bolts all turned, or stripped the nuts, or whatever , all the bolts had to be ground off with a grinder, (almost all)  Then drained the oil, stuck my pinky in the drain hole... there was so much stuff in the oil pan, now I am in the process of taking the engine apart. Sure looks like a mess right now.  I sure hope to get this running by spring. lol

General Discussion / 1939 Plymouth
January 21, 2012, 01:53:03 PM
I found this 39 Plymouth on E-bay, over by Milwaukee Wis. Needed something to work on this winter. lol I hope I don't have the problems Tony ended up with. This one has been in storage for 30+ years, so it has been at least that long since it has run. Someone had done a nice job on the upholstery, but really.... Black leatherete.
No rust or dings to speak of, I may just compound it and see what I come up with. Do all the mechanicals fist. lol and drive, drive, drive..... Tony, is this a "Ute" ?

General Discussion / Pheasant w/ Cupalo
January 04, 2012, 11:55:56 AM
I finally got the cupalo finished, next is to get it on top of the
Garage.  If the weathers stays this nice I may not have to wait till
spring. lol The Pheasant turned out real good, looks good on the top,
it even works, maybe, I'm not sure where North is from here. lol
Anyhow, these should be the last photos till I get it up top. (the
Pheasant is SD State Bird)  Now I can concentrate on getting the engine out of the 29 Plymouth. I wish you all a Very good New Years

General Discussion / Whats this car?
July 17, 2011, 03:34:00 PM
Pictures attached. I saw this old vehicle at a car show this morning. I Took a few pictures, one of the emblem on the radiator shroud and a couple of the car. What kind of  car is this, I am thinking a Dodge maybe?

Also, this car had a vacuum fuel pump, The guy wouldn't sell it because somebody was maybe going to take the whole car, but, he has several vacuum pumps that he would sell, but does not know what they are for, and I have never seen one for the Plymouths. Can anybody post some pictures of a few years (maybe 28-29 & 30) and if he has one like it I would like to get one.
Thanks you

General Discussion / electric fuel pump
July 03, 2011, 11:12:49 AM
My electric fuel pump leaks. If I replace it does it matter if the replacement pump is Neg ground or positive ground? I see Model "A"s have a 6V Neg ground one available, but no positive ground ones...
OR, where would be a good place to find a 6V Positive ground electric fuel pump?

Thanks

General Discussion / 125th Anniversary Celebration
June 26, 2011, 05:33:12 PM
I did get to the Parade for this anniversary celebration. It was a good parade, lots of interest in The OLD Plymouth. A few pictures attached. The first picture is why I've said "You can watch your dog run away for three days" in SD. The second, third and fourth are the Chrysler corp vehicles. The "32" Plymouth is the last one (Fourth) and it was made into a Rod. Pretty nice job also. The only other older plymouth in the parade.
Take care,

General Discussion / Antenna?
June 15, 2011, 09:24:06 PM
I have installed a CD Player/Radio in my 29 Plymouth coupe. I installed it behind the seat in the storage box, along with the speakers. My question is: Is it possible to hook up the "chicken wire" in the roof to use it as the antenna? Or what would be the best way/or kind of way, to hook up an antenna so it isn't seen? Any ideas? I posted this on the POC site as well, maybe I will get some good ideas between the two sites.
Thanks,

General Discussion / turn signal problems
May 03, 2011, 11:24:45 PM
I sent this to the POC site also, thought I would try here too.

I need some help on turn signals that do not work. I am putting turn signals on the 1929 Plymouth Coupe.

What happens? When I hook everything up, as per the instructions, turn the signal switch to  the right or left side (makes no diference which side) the light will light up (dim) but not flash. Checking the voltage coming out of the flasher with NO light hooked to the system I have 6.4 volts. I hook up 1 (one) light then I still have 6.4 volts and the light is bright. If I hook up a second light the voltage drops to 3.0 volts and the lights go dim, if I hook up one more light (#3) the volts drop to 1.6 volts and the lights are still dim.  This happens even if I hook up only both tail lights, or any combination. I thought I had a ground problem, not so. I run ground wires to each light and it made no diference
The voltage comes thru the flasher from the fuse, and feeds the turn signal switch.

I got a NOS signal switch to start with. I used all new wiring and tail lights, turn signals, and front turn signals. I have tryed 3 (Three) new 6V Flashers. I have double checked all the grounds at all the lights, I have run a ground wire to the signal switch to be sure that its got a good ground. I have checked the battery and even tryed it with a battery charger hooked up to make sure I had enough  (6V) voltage. If I take the flasher out of the system, hook up a hot lead to where the flasher would normally furnish the 6V to the lights, everything works bright and OK and no voltage drop, as long as I run the switch by hand. I hope some one has an idea I haven't tryed.

Thanks,
SD Glenn

General Discussion / Driving the 29 Plymouth...
April 29, 2011, 08:03:28 PM
Hi, This is the day I have been waiting for all winter, I finally got to take the Plymouth for a cruise around Lake Kampeska, about 30 mile trip. Had a bit of a shake down on the Plymouth to see what I needed to work on next (or again) The stearing needs to be tightened up a bit (a lot), but the trip was great, I got a few pictures, attached. Saw a lot of people, younger ones just looked and I could hear them saying "what the F--- is that" with thier mouths hanging open, the older folks just smiled and waved, some with the thumbs up.  Met 0ne new friend, the one that pulled me home...... The waves were really big today, its kinda breezy here ... LOL
What do you think now? Still need to compound the new paint job, next week I reckon.

General Discussion / Trying to finish the 29 Coupe.
April 15, 2011, 10:37:49 PM
We are finally putting the 1929 Plymouth Coupe together. Youngest Daughter is helping with the pin striping, and eldest son is helping assemble the various items, along with rebuilding the bumpers. I am supervising as normal when the kids are around. lol   We are getting close, I think. Hope to be driving it by my birthday on the 28th, if the creek don't rise and the snow stays away.

How you all doing? I am down to getting ready to pin stripe the 1929 Plymouth Coupe. Can anybody tell me where the pin striping goes? Does it follow the moldings, where the paint colors come together? How about the lower stripes also? and how wide are they, less than 1/4 inch? If someone can describe the process to me I sure need the help. All the pictures I find do not show a good pictue of the pin striping where I can make out where they are located. I posted this on the POC Site also, I need all the help I can get. lol
Thanks

March 15, 2011, 11:54:45 AM
Would someone, post a picture of the face of 1929 model hubcap, a close up? I am trying to make a cap that is as close to original as possible, my caps are so beat up I can't get a good reference from them. I will use the back parts and replace the face.  Thanks,
