Sounds like you got it , Chet . It must have been the valve . That 7-8 is a hot setting , right . So maybe if was 11, back it to 10-9  cold . This is new stuff to me . So I am following close .

Is it the higher pitch clanking sound every rev or deep clunks , multiples per rev.  . Check fuel pump oil pump .

Looking great Chet ! So the other plates were old style , which you using  ?   Also is carb on right direction , not familiar with the cars ? But love seeing it .

Not exactly like mine but similar . Would say marine grease in rear .

Chet, when it rains it pours; found couple more in (parting out ) post .

There were couple different pumps in 30's do you have pic . Mine is oil front bushing and grease rear were holds water back and packing rope on shaft . Mine is on '31 Truck with PA engine . 

On aaca site in PARTS FOR SALE .  A stripped car with two engines parting out .

Take number off bearing and cross on SKF site . Nice 1136 was mine . Ebayed about 34 dollars

Recently got my tilt windshield working . Will not stay open driving . Has flat waster under wingnut . Is something else needed ie. rubber washer toothed washer ?

I understand that generator voltage output is regulate or maybe should say kept in check by it's connection to the battery as a sink . So if the wire between is open volt will go crazy maybe to 40 volts and cause overheating anywhere including in armature . Armature are replaceable check ebay .
