Attached is an article from a back issue of "Skinned Knuckles Magazine".  Jim Yergin made a copy and sent it to me.

Tks Jim.

It found it very interesting so I thought that it was worth posting.

Enjoy...

One of these days when I feel brave enough, I am going to try and use the crank.......just for grins!

Thanks Chet.  I am gonna give it a try, just for the heck of it!

Dave,

Be careful.., it's too early in the driving season for any casualties.  Try it with a hot engine first.  It should be easier to start.

Good luck...  Chet...

Good luck!

The only time I use the hand crank is when adjusting the valves - it is very helpfull for that.  I would rather push start the car than risk braking an arm hand cranking it.
