Trying to mount the trico wiper motor on my 30-U coupe and am missing the spacers and mounting bolts between the wiper motor and the windshield. Anyone know what the dimensions are for the spacers and the bolt size and thread pitch for the mounting hardware?

Thanks for the pictures. The 30-U is different in that there is no mounting bracket. The wiper motor screws directly into the windshield surround at the same point that yours screws into the mounting bracket. There are no screw holes for the mounting bracket which is screwed into the windshield surround at a point higher than the wiper motor. I can make the spacers but I need to know how far it needs to be offset to permit installing the wiper arm.
On the 29U the wiper mounting plate is used to allow for the removal of the wiper motor without having access to the interior side. The bracket mounts to the body metal with little protrusion to the interior side. This way there is no chance for the windshield to hit the mounting hardware when in the up or open position. The spacers are welded to the bracket and drilled and tapped for the vacuum motor mounting screws.
The wiper blade is spring loaded to the window so there is a lot of wiggle room. My setup uses a Trico motor which fits Ford exterior mount cars 1929-31. I am also using the same Ford 8" wiper blade with a 6 3/4" length wiper arm.

PS... Post a picture of where the wiper motor mounts. I have been collecting parts for years and maybe I might have something you could use.

This is what I have. Two threaded openings for mounting the wiper motor. I have the motor that was on the car and it aligns with the mounting holes. It can't be mounted directly however and needs to be spaced away from the body to allow clearance for the wiper arm. I just need to know how much clearance is needed as I have lost the spacers.
Someone out there should be able to provide that info. I think you could guesstimate it knowing all the hardware. You could try different configurations to determine the best distance. Just a thought.

Good question Tom, I was assuming an exterior mount.
It's an exterior mount. I will try to get a better picture today but it is under the visor. Just the two mounting holes in the windshield surround and the hole for the vacuum line.

Also on different note Chet . I went back and forth on mounting mine hump down in window view or up as your last shows . Found answer in my owners book interior pic . Hump down .

Hi Tom,
Whether you mount it up or down doesn't change how it operates or where it parks the wiper. I figured it best to eliminate any obstruction to the view. I hope things are going well and hopefully a good summer for old cars.
Figured it out. I machined two spacers to move the motor just enough to permit installation of the wiper arm. Even though it puts the motor in view, hump down seems like the better way to go. Otherwise, I would worry about the lubricating oil clogging the vacuum passages. Thanks everyone for all the help.

Good to know... I worried about the grease in there also. Guess not that big a deal .
Ultimately, after mounting mine with the hump down I decided to mount mine with the hump up because it blocked visibility too much the other way around.
