General Discussion / Re: A few gremlins with engine.
November 27, 2018, 10:54:34 PM
It is a rebuild, but not recent. (Maybe 10 years ago the work was done to it, I'm not at all sure) When I got it it was clear that the bottom end had been rebuilt, clean valves, fresh seats, clean pistons etc. head was not on it. I resurfaced the head, new hg, set timing and fired it up.

The factory oil pressure gauge was maxing out at 50, I figured maybe the gauge wasn't calibrated, put an aftermarket unit in this afternoon to verify and got the same reading.

The oil pump is fully enclosed, no vacuum port.

Not sure if it makes a difference but it's a mechanical fuel pump, not vacuum.

Running fresh 5w20 high mileage stuff.

Oil pressure only fluctuates a few psi at higher revs.

Engine is running pretty good now:

However oil pressure is like 50psi. Even when hot. I put in a different oil gauge to verify and it's still reading 50.

What do you think? Just run it?

I'm on the hunt for 2 of the wheel plates in picture and 5 of each of the carriage bolts and lug nuts, these would be for a 30u with wooden wheels.  Any leads?

Sure, this is what I was able to find for my 30u:

Cap:                     https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/ECHRR106

Rotor:                   https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/ECHRR74

Breaker Points:      https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/ECHCS63A

Condenser:            https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/ECHRR174

I have not confirmed fitment on any of these, however I will be ordering them up tomorrow and will confirm once I have products in hand.

Thanks Frank. I was able to cross reference them and found them on Napa's website.

Hi Chet, thanks for the info, however, how are the side mouldings held in place? Glue?
