Chris- Thanks for the reply on the coil switch assembly. Please let me know details if you come up with the switch.  The coil you have does not have to be good as I am trying to see if a coil I have is good and need a switch for it as it does not have one. Rich

CHET- Thanks for the reply and watching for a switch. My guess is you are right that a switch assy will be hard to come by. If the posibility is out there this forum I fell is the best place to try. Rich

Chet: I would be interested in finding a usable key switch assembly that will fit this coil. Any leads are appreciated.  Thanks Rich

Came across a N.O.S. ignition coil that I think is correct for a '29 Ply. There is no signs that it has ever been bolted in to use. It has the DELCO REMY logo on top and two terminals on top, + plus and - minus and the tower for the distributor cap. Has the three mounting holes on the switch end. Will attempt to attach photos to help. There is no damage that is visible so I am assuming it should be good.
In trying to test it with an oam meter across the primary terminals (+ and _ ) and shows no reading and the tower to minus terminal shows 3.21.
The question in my mind is - the key switch not being inserted what is the correct way to test this style of coil ?
Thanks for any info . Rich

Noticed while cruising the forum that I was not the only one that had problems with the throwout bearing guide on front of the transmission. At the time had access to the machine shop to make one and here is a copy of the print to duplicate one. Hope this helps. It is for a 1929 Plymouth U, 4 cylinder with original transmission. The square thread only returns tranny oil back in tranns.  Rich

well one more thing to try. In a rebuilt motor there should not be any ticking noises, sO- It is a little involved but with the symtom you mentioned of a low vacuum at a time. Just a suggestion mind you, remove the intake/exhaust manifold and spark plugs. Bring each cylinder up with both valves closed and blow low pressure in each spark plug hole. If any air leaks from intake or exhaust port on each cylinder that would indicate where you might start a search. If all valves are sealed the same the valves should not be part of the problem. (with all valves adjusted of course) Good luck with your search  -Rich

My first concern is  if the distributor mount is installed you might want to remove it and see if the sound stays the same. They are to hard to come by and is one easy test to try. Good luuck - Rich
Also try checking the valve that isin timme with the noise as it may be sticking up slightly and that would account for for the differance in manifold vaccume.

Glad to hear she is up and going again. With some 90 year old parts they can be hard to get along with. Happy Motoring again.

Frank: My 2 cents. If the float tank shutoff is working correctly and is in fact off, the only place gas could be coming from is the carb float bowel. On a few ocasions I have seen that a small piece of contamination in the needle and seat will make the situation you have. We had to take the carb apart and flush with all the jets out 3 times before getting it clean. Another posibility is the float may be set to high. Worth a second check if you have it apart. Good luck - Rich
