Title: Pin type grease fittings
Post by: Gary 30U on June 01, 2010, 12:00:03 PM
Does anyone know if and when Plymouths might gave used the pin type fitting? If so were they brass, nickle or plain?

If they didn't have these what style did they use?

Always looking for more info.

Gary

Hope I am not kijacking your thread but if I may add that I am also wondering if anyone has a breakdown on the types of grease fittings used on autos of our era and when they changed. Photos of some sort would be great.

The pin type Grease Fittings ( I think manufactured by Alemite) used on the 29 Plymouth are also used on my 1948 Plymouth.  The rounded Zerk fittings came out in 1929 but it doesn't seem that they were used in Plymouths until sometime in the 1950's.  If you find out any more information on grease fittings I would be interested in the link.

Chet...

PS... Grease fittings are commonly made from zinc-plated steel, stainless steel, or brass.
