where could i find a horn button and the Bakelight cover for my steering wheel.Mine is a 29 DeSoto but i think they are the same Wheel. Thanks, Rick

I'm not sure where you might find that.  The wheel, horn bottom, and cover on the 28/29 Plymouth is wood.  At least I am pretty sure they are wood.  These sound like hard parts to find.   You might leave a post on the AACA forum in the DeSoto Section.

I would be very interested in seeing a picture of your 29 DeSoto if you have the time.

My 1930 30U RS Coupe is Crown Maroon with the black fenders which looks to be very close to the color on the DeSoto - very pretty car by the way!

Hello Bearings 46,

And welcome to this forum.   Feel free to talk about anything from the weather or whether or not to buy that next car project.   I would enjoy seeing a picture of your car and I suppose there are others that feel the same way.  So if you have the time post a picture.

Happy Thanksgiving,  Chet...

I will have to check to see what I have in the way of digital photos of the RS Coupe plus its mate - a 1930 30U 4-door sedan with 33,00 original miles. I've ownd the sedan for 27 years and the RS Coupe for 20. They also share space with a 1936 Plymouth P2 Touring sedan (47,000 miles and all original - think Driveable Dream in Hemmings Classic Car) as well as a couple of early 50's Chryslers, a 1974 TR6 and a 1987 Porsche 944T. Quite a mix!

IF the wheel and button ARE the same as the Plymouth's then they are also the same as the 1927 Chrysler small Model 50 and 52. I know the wooden steering wheel and horn button from a '27 Chrysler were the same as on my '29U Plymouth. I also remember seeing a '31 DeSoto at a meet and was surprised to see that it still had quick demountable rims and a thin ribbon rad shell on it the same as '28,'29 and early '30 Plymouths.
I have since found out DeSoto stagnated for a few years around that time. I guess Walter was trying to decide whether he would continue with it after getting Dodge and all it's models  in 1929. So you may find '29,'30 and'31 parts mostly the same.
The books say the '30 DeSotos were simply a carry-over from '29 with different model designations. Then it says 1931 was simply a carryover of the 1930 Finer Six. So reading between the lines, and seeing the '31 I saw at the meet ,I suspect a LOT of parts are interchangable in those years? :D
