Things you are looking for. / Re: 29u hood hold down
Last post by Touring29 - September 02, 2024, 09:23:27 PM
I have been looking for a couple of them for 2 years. I have the spring & hook parts but one of my brackets has been replaced by one that doesn't let the hood close right and another is in pretty bad shape. I may attempt to make some one of these days. If you find a source let me know.

I think I may have fixed it. I couldn't find a way to take it apart without destroying it so I backed the nut off and wrapped some button hole thread my wife had around the shaft a few times. Put it back together and so far no leaks. I thought about putting a ball valve between the tank and the filter and plugging the old valve but that would have the filter & throttle linkage fighting for real estate. Thanks Tom for giving me that idea.

I don't think you will find an exact replacement.  May have to reconfigure the filter and shut off valve.

Anyone know where I can find this shut off valve? I have tightened the packing nut and it still drips. It used to just drip when the valve was shut but now it seeps all the time.

Quote from: Touring29 on August 16, 2024, 11:27:05 PMGreat video and your coupe is really nice! It takes a lot of dedication to keep one of those brass era cars shined up and a unbelievable amount to get them in the condition those are in!

For sure, parts are few and far between. Currently working on a rare early gas tractor. Know the pain of having to make and modify parts to get it running.

Quote from: Articifer Tom on August 13, 2024, 09:11:49 AMGreat Video Dave . Still learning about those brass era cars . My cousin found a 1912 Metz from flipper who could justify investment . Although a rough barn find we have it running and he drives grand-kids around farm with it .

Awesome! I took the roadster to a show last weekend and give rides to folks who have an interest when I can. Get some smiles from the youngsters in the rumble seat.
