My 1929 Plymouth Model U

Chet's Old Plymouths

          Current Work

Passenger Side Door Repair & Frame Fabrication.

The driver's side front and rear doors have been completed and without rehashing the process here are the results of this same work on the passenger side of the car.  With this work completed I will be moving to general body work getting the car ready for the paint shop.  Once the motor repairs are completed, I will reinstall the motor and break it in over the course of the winter.  By spring I should be ready for new body paint.

This work was completed over a large segment of time with many unrelated activities occurring at the same time.  The process of repairing the wood framing, painting, and fabricating the top door frames requires small sections of work to be accomplished in order to move forward with repairs.  As an example, wood needs to be fitted and repaired before paint etc.  At the same time the mechanical parts are removed, cleaned, and finally reinstalled into the doors once all wood repairs are completed.  All the window components will be replaced after the car is back from the paint shop.  I am reinstalling the door locks for practical purposes.

Below are pictures of the painted door skins with all rotted wood removed.

The front passenger door is on your left and the rear on the right.

I can finally close the door on this task.  All four doors and upper door frames are completed.

I will install the regulators, window glass, and hardware after the car has been painted.  Below is a picture of the finished passenger side doors.
