Who knows, it is a significant modification to a standard piece of sheet metal. I have not saw it on a Plymouth model previously.

Stuff 4 Sale / Original 29 Plymouth For Sale (Not Mine)
December 18, 2018, 05:19:07 PM
Here I thought I had something unique, this thing is its twin. Same discolored hood paint, even has a trunk.

Someone replaced/updated the door handles to something else. Also looks to have a Stewart Werner vacuum canister (Not Kingston) But quite find!

I believe copper is correct. This was discussed somewhere previously, I forget where. See picture from my car.

Hi Dave, Glad to hear from you.  Thanks for the reply.  How is your car coming ?

I'm around. Just been making the most of the last half of summer. Got a new toy (that is not a project) been using that and you know fall is tractor season....
Car has been at a standstill. I'm thinking my engine needs to be rebuilt or swapped for my spare (if that is in good shape). It maybe coincidence or a result of flushing with detergent oil and/or adding Lucas oil treatment, but its leaking bad now and blowing oil out of the breather after a run. Drove it around the block Sunday when rearranging my garage for the winter and there is a ton of blow by smoke in the cab. Shes pretty wore.

Geoff57,

I have not repaired my roof yet, the work posted has all been Chet. I have just taken a few pictures and measurements.

See his details here > http://www.1948plymouth.info/1929/Work_files/2017/08312017.htm

Here > http://www.1948plymouth.info/1929/Work_files/2017/09132017.htm

and the main thread here > http://www.1948plymouth.info/28Q29U/index.php?topic=1102.90

If there is a specific original part that I can measure or take a picture of let me know.

Good luck!

Also there is a connection from the drivers side head bolt through a grounding block attached to the firewall.  This ensures good grounding to the cowl and dash assembly which is partially insulated by the wood framing.

Hope this helps,  Chet...

Are you talking about about piece under the brake reservoir? I believe its purpose is limit the engine from twisting (torquing). It's rigid and has vibration damping, (shock absorbing) material behind it. I believe its insulated electrically.

I have the strap at the battery, goes straight to the frame. And the other strap Chet talked about on the passenger side.

This thread came up at a good time. I have been experiencing harder starts, starter struggling when gas starts entering (Choke). The lights are dim, I just figured they always sucked  :o. A few weeks back at the Nowthen show I left it over night, at the end of the day (total darkness) I was driving it across the grounds and noticed with the lights on it didn't have enough juice to run the horn.

Think I'll start with a clean up of all major electrical points of contact and see what happens.

Dave - thanks for pic.   Looks like battery connects to frame and starter switch and another ground from transmission to frame on passenger side?

I'm curious as to what is correct even though I'll probably wire up the way I have for now with bigger cables.   Would I need the other ground off passenger side?

No grounds on my transmission, the cable on the passenger side is the speedo.

I believe mine is a flat strap as well. I'll take a look later to confirm.

More like impossible to find. (in a usable condition)

There is a guy that used my good handles to recast and make new ones for members here. If you search it, you can find the thread. Or if you want contact info we can provide it. Think you are a ways away from those finishing touches. But if you decide to keep and it redo the car, order them up!

Key lock handle is on the passenger side. (mine was and I believe it is correct based on past discussions)
