General Discussion / Re: 29 Build Thread

Frank, Thanks for the info and picture.

Dave's car is a treasure trove of information details.  I was fascinated by the two nails in the sill washer below the bolt holding the sill in place.  This is the kind of stuff that gets washed away by owner repairs over the life of the car.  The body plate is where I thought it should go.

I also sent an email to Jeff Buton to pick his brain also.

Thanks for all the help,  Currently working on the rear suspension, Chet...

Finally finished the last of the structural framing

I can finally move on to something new.  Yes I know that there is still plenty of wood work to complete but the structural side of the equation is now in the past.  It's actually been a little over a year since I started down this road.  Pretty soon maybe I'll have something to actually drive again.

I'm thinking Floor next ?

Just an FYI if anyone will be going to Hershey PA for the AACA meet.  The wife and I will be at Hershey on Wednesday & Thursday and it would be great to say hi to anyone searching the swap meet from this forum.  If you are attending and want to meet up, send me an email at chetbrz@aol.com

Thanks for the pictures.  I wish I had brackets like yours it would have made my work a little easier.  The brackets I have are different but appear to be very old.  The hinge pillar bracket is sitting on top of the front cowl bracket.

Thanks John & Tom,

I have a couple of these Trico motors.  The motor that was on my car is much different and I believe it also was a Trico.  I sent a picture to Ficken Wiper Service and he said he wouldn't touch it and couldn't guarantee a repair.

Unfortunately at the moment I don't know where I put the motor.  I reinstalled the tubing for the vacuum motor and ran two wires up the passenger side door frame to the roof so my immediate issue is resolved.  Installing the actual motor is many months from now.  When I get back to this or when I find my old motor I'll post a picture.  The one that was on my car was a rectangular box.

They Look good installed.  Dose your car have metal brackets securing the wooden hinge pillar to the floor ?

I'll have to post some pictures of the one that was on my car and the others I have picked up here and there.  The one from my car is nothing like the Model A motor and I don't know if it is original.

Does the rearview mirror pictured below look original for a 29 Plymouth ?

I hear you Dave.

Virginia is the same way.  You sign a statement saying that you are responsible for maintaining the car to the minimum factory specifications representing the model year the car was manufactured.  They never look at the car.  Delaware on the other hand is a bit more strict about verifying titles and basic equipment.  They don't require much, but at least one windshield wiper - working, headlights & taillights, horn, & brakes.  After that you are on your own.  This is of course if you want to drive on county roads.

General Discussion / Windshield wipper assy.

Whenever I finish this car it will have to go through a one time inspection and before I can get a Delaware registration the car will have to have a working windshield wiper.  I have collect possible solutions over the years but I am not sure if any of them will work OK.  I have two Trico motors used on phantom cars which had exterior mounts.   Neither work so before I waste time and money I was wondering if anyone has a solution to the wiper assembly issue.  I was told the one I had on the car couldn't be fixed ?? I am not even sure if it is correct for the car ??

Any advise would be appreciated.

John,

I bought one of these around 2006 and had the same issue.  I just figured it was my car that was the issue (or the installer).  You are right the gear shift cover fit no problem.

I guess the steering wheel hole is 1/2" to close to the top of the mate.  If it was cut lower the peddles might have fit better.  Mine was also off side to side which is probably my car.

If I get another one of these I think I will make a template and align it to the new mat before I cut any holes or I'll just use my old one.
